Tennessee Meet (March) Tail of the Dragon

Just made it after driving through the clouds and wet on the Cherohala. Then we got to sit on the side of the road on the Dragon for an hour and half while they towed some dumb semi that ran off the road and got stuck and was blocking the road. Pics to come. Should be at the lake meeting spot tomorrow morning.

OK.

Nice dinner out at SoccerTaco tonight with Madame Juju (a.k.a. Erin the fiancee) and on the way I see a black NSX with NC plates. She swears it is the same car as earlier.

Mirror, is that you? Shoulda stopped and joined us!

Anyhow. Early to bed = potentially coherent at the crack 'o dawn. Plus, I gotta clean my car.... again.

See you fellas in the morn.

Aero, If you are in the Maryville area we will be meeting just south of the airport in the morning.

Hey all,

Thanks for letting me and my blue Z tag along...even if you did leave me (*EDIT* AFTER the Dragon haha ).

OK now do I get to pick which NSX I want?

Great fun guys and gals!
Yeah, weather could have been better but it kept changing and was decent through the Dragon. Roads were wet and that kept us mostly legal. Only had the ATC light come on twice coming out of a curve so I must be getting better at throttle management:rolleyes:
Loved the beauty shots at the dam. So much power in one place....sorry...
I split off from the group in Robbinsvile so I could check out the Cherohala Skyway despite assurances from the local experts that it would be socked in with the clouds. Figured I would see enough to decide if I would make the trip back up another day. Guess I was lucky because the ride was beautiful. Only thing missing was the string of NSX's in front and behind me. Had great views of valleys filled with fog, lakes, etc and it was all for me. Quiet. Only had one group of cruiser bikes come by. Not the only place in the Smokies to have this vista but the long sweeping curves and unlimited speed was a great combination. "I'll be back".
Thanks for you guys putting it together and look forward to seeing you again. The ride four of us took in November through Suches and Neal's Gap was comparable and would be worth the drive for those of you on the NC side as well as ATL. Plan on joining us this fall.

Paul

Will post YouTube videos when trimmed.

Finally made it home. Was really good to meet all you guys!

Despite every local and expert in the region telling me not to bother, I went on the Cherohala this morning anyway. It was fricken AWESOME !!! Drove through about 3 miles of fog as thick as mushroom soup and emerged above the cloud line and in the SUN !!!! I went all the way to Tellico and back in a little over an hour. On the way back, another black nsx went by so I wasn't alone. MyNSX I think. Went back to the Dragon and that was dead empty and dry as well. Made a nice bonzai run and then headed back down 28. Awesome fricken day.

That was me if it was around noon. I was on the way home. The dragon and Skyway (except for some fog) were great and desserted before noon.

Minus the speeding ticket I got in NC :frown: and the wet roads was a good time. Its surprising to see everyones pictures and how good the cars look despite most were pretty dirty (mine being the worst it seemed).

I was just getting ready to ask this.

How were the police over the weekend?

Too bad the weather sucked. :frown: But still a great turnout for bad weather!

How were the police over the weekend?

I split off from the group in Robbinsville and went back to The Dragon. The first pass up and back, I didn't see any. On my second trip in there were a pair of TN sheriffs at the west end but they were out of their car yakking with some civilians. The next time I saw them they were at the resort on the NC side having lunch.

But The Dragon was relatively deserted. Definitely the emptiest I've ever seen. On my 5th (or 6th?) pass, it started to rain again so I gave it up and headed south. But it was fun while it lasted.:D

edit to add - there was a fairly heavy police presence on I-75, especially in Florida. I saw lots of people pulled over.
