TCS acting up?

About a week ago, I noticed something odd that has become rather regular. After a couple of minutes of driving my '92 NSX, there is a momentary "bog" feeling as TCS kicks in (for no apparent reason). The TCS light stays on afterwards, even though it feels that TCS is no longer engaged. Once this happens, I can't turn TCS off, much less get the light to turn off. If I kill the engine, the TCS light resets and can be turned off.

Any ideas what this might be? I'm running the stock Yokos on 94+ 16 and 17" wheels, and have not had any problems with TCS in the past (although it has saved my butt a couple of times).

BTW, I tried driving with the TCS off, and the problem never occurs if I never turn it on. However, this doesn't give me any idea what the problem might be.

Does nobody have any experience with something like this? I'd hate to think that my NSX has some rare, undiagnosed tropical illness... :P

Are there any error codes?

A common failure for TCS is a bad ring sensor at one of the wheels.

Thanks, Lud. Eventually, I'm going to lose my lazy ways and scour the FAQ before I post technical problems. As it turns out, I see comments that sound identical to mine on http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/tcs.htm

When I'm driving, I occasionally hear a relay clicking - It sounds like it's behind me to my left. This seems to be happening more frequently than it did when I first bought the car. I've noticed that sometimes when this happens, the rev limiter bounces to zero and back, and the engine speed drops noticeably. I'm betting that I have a connection or relay somewhere that has a poor connection, and that is resetting the TCS.

Anybody have an idea what relay SAN was talking about in the post under TCS error codes? I'd like to start by looking there.

Also, I noticed that this problem happens even if I have TCS disengaged, and it doesn't seem to happen if I drive smoothly at steady RPMs. On the other hand, I can hear the relay(s) clicking if I drive it hard, especially when I start pushing up to 6-8K RPMs.

Kirthasa,

I beleive you are hearing the fuel pump relay that will increase the fuel pressure as the revs go up. I Have heard recently about these guys acting up, I do not recall the thread though.
