I have been looking for a new muffler for my NSX for a long time. I
installed a set of RM headers (no longer made, I understand) a couple of
years ago. While I noticed a small increase in performance from the headers
the technician who installed them told me that he felt the engine was still
'bottled up' and not able to exhale well at high RPM. I needed to rectify
that.

I had listened to the RM muffler and hated it. Unsophisticated and loud. So
I thought Comptech might be the one. But after listening carefully to the
Comptech muffler on the CART pace car when it was here for the CART race in
July I decided I needed something a little more aggressive but with a
sophisticated sound. Chris Willson at Science of Speed suggested the Taitec
GT Competition muffler would be just what I needed. Boy was he ever right!
It is awesome.

My car sounds sooo nice right now. I can hardly wait to open it up. Of
course it sounds best on the track where wide open throttle is the rule. At
my last track event I was surrounded by Porsches, Corvettes and other
sophisticated machinery (okay, don't put the Corvette in that group) and yet
it was my NSX that the lead instructor commented on:

"You're car sounds awesome! I ran to see what it was because it sounded just
like an F1 car!".

Granted that was accelerating down the front straight (which does double
duty as a drag strip) of the road course so there were grandstands and walls
to reflect the sound. But nevertheless, I felt that was a pretty good
endorsement from someone who was trained at the Winfield Race School in
Europe and was tested by the Players Forsythe Racing team.

Around town it is noticeable but streetable and not offensive. As it is,
there is too little time to drive so why spend it talking to police and
waiting for them to hand you a ticket?

Besides the increased performance and sound the two best things about the
Taitec are that it is very competitively priced and weighs less, a lot less,
than the OEM muffler.

Great muffler. Great sound. Thanks Chris and Science of Speed.
