Taillight moisture revisited

I have searched and read every thread with the words "tail light", "taillight", "moisture", and "water" on the site. I still have questions about getting the moisture out of all 3 of my d*#m tail lights.

First off, I am not a mechanic and as a result I am VERY slow and meticulous when I work on my cars. Due to the sophistication of the engineering of the NSX I am extremely careful not to force things (parts ain't cheap) and I never tackle a project that is over my head (90%+ of them). That's what Acura cashiers are for.

My stupid questions:
(1) The little black grommets holding the carpet of my 95...they are shaped like a capital T on top of a capital V...are they 1-use items or are they supposed to break? They are not the screw type. Is there an easy way to remove them? I have been using two flat-blade screwdrivers (one per side) and it takes a lot of pressure to pull them out.

(2) Once the carpet is out, I see barely enough room to replace the bulbs. There seems to be a body-colored piece of plastic/metal that hinders access to the actual taillight assembly. Is this the rear deck lid that the online service manual refers to?

(3) What role do the rectangular foam gaskets serve? Are they only to ensure a tight fit or are they designed to prevent leakage?

I have more questions, but I probably sound clueless enough at this point...

KGB,

The on-line manual will be a big help. Page 23-192 shows the removal. Most folks, from what I recall, will make a few small holes in the lower side of the assemblies so water and moisture can escape. If ytu do this you can remove them and leave them on the bench a few days so the moisture clears, then reinstall them.

Not 100% sure about the trunk "grommets". For these things I usually keep a few new ones around, since you will always break at least one:)
