guys,
i am just curious..which frame is stronger? Coupe or T?.....from all the logical stand point, i would say a coupe would be a bit more firm during roll over..........what do you think? anyone got some technical knowledge into this?

The coupe is definitely stronger. Drive a T over some rough roads and you can tell in no time.

The NSX was never designed to have a removable roof panel. They had to add some extra reinforcements to different parts of the body to make up for the loss in rigidity.

The first time I drove a T over some rough roads, I was disappointed because of all the magazine hype about it being super strong and them not being able to tell the difference. It's even worse with the panel off... But it's no where near as bad as some of the other convertibles/targa cars!!!

hey budd,
could you elaborate a little more on the "T over rough road"? I've never driven a T before, and now that i am ready to upgrade for one, i want to make the right choice. :D

Calvin, have you ever driven a covertible? (Not the Honda S2000, that thing is stiff!)

If you have, you can SEE the windshield section (dunno the technical term) shake and then some of the car absorbs it and shakes too. They call it cowl shake. The NSX-T is no where near that bad, but you can feel it shake when you go over say... a railroad track.

Drive one though... it's really not as bad as I'm making it sound.

Next time you come to San Diego (wanna come tomorrow? http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19813) I'll take your for a spin with the T on and off and you can feel for yourself.

I have had to NSX-Ts and when I got my first S2000, I had to get an NSX Coupe. THere's something odd about driving an NSX-T after an S2000 just to experience more cowl shake and chassis flex. The NSX-T is quite good for an open top car, but the S2000 is in a class of it's own.

The coupe is noticeable stiffer than the T. In addition, the coupe's suspension is also a bit stiffer.
