T-top flew off...

The top is pretty much junked... It landed on the grass, maybe the wind pushed it to the right. The good thing is I can still latch the top and still have good seal. 3 of the 4 corners are bent, I used a plier to bend it back. the paint on top is still good. Yes, there is a warning light but I was too of a hurry to look.

litesokneecough> nice avatar love that song 'this love'? oh and um...bugger about the targa top, i prefer coupes! (keeping it topical ;))

Hi man, I was at the Pac NW meeting last weekend (I was admiring your jacket!) and saw the damage to the top.

I didn't think it looked too bad and it still serves its purpose. Anyways, you took my number down... give me a call if you want to together for a drive or check out some racing!

Mystery Solved - Why I had no warning light for unlatched top on mine

Mystery solved.

I called Jim Russell, service manager at Hopkins Acura in Redwood City, CA (see my recommendation of him under Vendors), and he guessed that the warning light not going on in my '97 was probably a malfunctioning sensor in the top storage area, so the car thought the top was still safely in there. When we looked today, he was absolutely right. He ordered the $7 part and will install it this week. I would have never thought to look inside the clamshell to solve a light on the dash about a roof latch!

Open the clamshell and remove the top if it is in there. Look at the front left corner (closest to the driver seat) -- there is a sensor there. Mine was completely missing, leaving a hole there.
