I cant find anything on suspension wise here. I am looking to spend 1500 on suspension and was wondering whats the best bang for the dollar. I am looking to do more circuit racing/auto cross events.

Thanks

I assume everything is stock right now?

Have you seen this?

$1000 for Tein Flex with EDFC is a good deal. However, Tein suspension is only a slightly better choice than JIC, and other Taiwanese made suspensions.
(stance, D2, Megan, ARK.......)

Within Tein, the best product for nsx is the Super Racing, then MonoFlex. Both are more than your 1500 budget. Then you could get TeinRA/RE, I used to have them and tracked them for 4 years. They are fine but not comfortable at all on streets. The regular Flex system Cozmo linked is the other way around... more towards street driving.

With suspension, you are really getting what you paid for. Let me know what kind of track and experiences you have, and some of us (track junkies) can give you an better idea.

I'm not sure if I would say Tein Flex is better than JIC...

Maybe you haven't tried the right ones?

I didn't think he was trying to build a race car, but rather get something better than OE. With a used set of coilovers that'd still leave some budget for sway bars or something else.

I track my car 5-6 times a year and have found The Type-S suspension with the type-R front anti sway bar and chaise braces from SOS to be a economic set up and a big improvement from stock. I have a 95-T . Also if you have stock brakes try the Hawk Plus brake pads.

I've noticed BMI drivers always seem to love the Type S suspension as well.

I have the Type S suspension as well. I think it's fantastic.

There's a set of Toda's in the NSX parts for sale section and you can see what you can workout pricewise with the seller.

I have a set myself and love them. One of Canadas resident trackers has a set and has this info and review on them

I'm not sure if I would say Tein Flex is better than JIC...

john was right, the dress up springs are the shiz..

I should have worded it precisely... I do believed the Tein monoflex or super-racing is better than JIC suspension... and like i mentioned, Flex is more towards street than track.

But then I really think comptech pro, KW V3, Koni 2812 or JRZ are better choices here but it's hard to compare as we all have different modifications and also we usually ride it in diff. tracks at different conditions.

to op: With 5 to 6 track days a year and given that you are not a novice driver, I would recommend getting a better suspension as sooner or later, you will want one anyway.

+1 INVEST in your car/suspension.

Just get the "Supa dupa mega street togue racing dampaaaa"

as long as they are JDM... :)

speaking of JDM, does anyone here use Quantum at all? I believed the Top End japanese members all used them. (those who supposedly fast and frequent track rats)

Never been able to get a friggen set:mad:

yeap, it's funny that it's made in England but seems like the Japanese web page is even more detailed.

Really didn't know that. I saw them on Yahoo auctions but guys have always gone bucks up for them and w/o knowing too much about them I was only willing to spend so much. There's this one towards the bottom of the page but no price:frown:

What's the english homepage for them?

Ditto - I replaced my Teins with JICs (so far I'm very happy).

I drove my freind's turbocharged Imola the other day and it was down right DANGEROUS with the Teins. I would have felt more comfortable with stock suspension because the wheels actually stay on the ground.

i agreed that tein always seems like it's way underdamped for the springs they have included in their coilover kits. The MonoFlex seems to have a night and day improvement though. The really good ones are SuperRacing...

I had driven a few Tein Flex equipped cars, but not with nsx, so I couldn't command on them.

like i said, i had Tein RA before, and it seems like the shocks are happier the harder I adjusted it... I could not ever put it in any softer settings as it gets bouncy...

brandonson, which Tein does your friend has??

underdamped = bouncy/'springy'/riding on the spring

overdamped = "skipping" across the road, no suspension movement, 'harsh'.

Many coilovers can go from underdamped and bouncy to overdamped and cause the car to skip across the pavement.

Monoflex is much better than the Flex, but it'd be hard to compare to JIC without back to backing them. SRC's are tein's best damper but IMO isn't near the quality of damper or have the useable range of adjustment as the KW V3.

HKS Hypermax are very nice coilovers as well.
