Yeah, My 60something Uncle just did this a couple of days after New years. He was distraught after he lost his girlfriend of 15 years to cancer. He put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. I wish he would have seeked counseling or discussed this notion with one of the family so we could help prevent this trajedy. His siblings are having trouble dealing with his loss. Life is such a miracle, its such a shame.

I'm to selfish to consider it. However if I were to save someone in the process then I might. 'hears angels singing'

Ski, were do you come up with this crap? How come you didn't have disemboweling as a choice?

Are you famous or something? Pm me the details.

I think I may have committed financial suicide with that friggen apple position.

My brother offed himself a few years back.He called me one day told me he had tried a speedball(heroin/cocaine).All it took was once he was hooked he figured the only way to stop was take a nap in the garage with the car running. What really sucked is I never told anybody that he was doing heroin.

That really sucks. I am sorry to hear that. I had a friend die from a Heroin OD back when I was 19. He was a really cool guy. I had another friend hang himself over a girl around the same time. The girl is now married to a different friend of mine. The guy who hung himself was hanging out with me 15 minutes before he went home to do. He never even gave a hint that he was depressed or even thinking anything of the sort. I still have the obit I clipped from the paper twenty plus years ago. The whole thing tore his family apart. :frown:

What does have me down is how the U.S. got to this place in the first place. This is the 3rd inning folks -- nobody on this website, myself included, knows how far this shoe will drop. Gotta love JIT-R. Just In Time - Recession.

I know where this could be headed. One of the things that has kept the world safe is that the US has been rich enough to have the dominant military to keep everyone in check. Those who do not value human life in a similar way, or have aspirations of malicious actions, have been controlled because they simply have not had the cash.

That is changing. Mortgage crisis? Who cares. Oil and gas prices at $10? Small concern. China with the power to do whatever they want in the world without a thought or care for the value of human life, the environment, fill in the next item here _________, that is where it starts.

The developing nations, China, India, etc.. are going to take over control of the world and just see how far they go to protect global interests. They'll be pumping out so much pollution just to save 1% gross margin. They'll be ripping off all types of intellectual property so that Companies in countries that put the profits from ventures to good use (either indirectly through taxes or directly toward subsequent innovation), will no longer be going concerns.

Not much good can come from less money flowing into the governments of countries who actually spend it making the world a better place and who put a high value on all human life, with more money going toward the countries who will sell next decade short for benefit today and who dont really care about anyone else. China will probably cut deals for Oil with Iran in exchange for Nukes.

the world and US survived WW1-WW2 ,the european nations survived the US's steady growth into the super power it is today.......All this election year blabber is just a yawn measured by the clock that passes time in decades not micro seconds. Too many Chicken littles crying at the same time... oops going off topic Suicide regret aint like tattoo regret.

My boss killed himself with a gun some months ago. It seemed to me that he was depressed a long time and depressions are very perfidious.

Another guy was suffering of a neurological illness in an late state but his attempt failed. Sorry for him.

Suiciders act logically, from their point of view. Suiciders don't want to get attention, they just want to finish their life and (that's my opinion) it's their right to do so if they feel so. Just my point of view. I know there are people out there who think completely different about that.

40 % of the academics use a gun to commit it. It's a safe and painless way if done right. What is more dissturbing is the fact there are 10 times more trials who fail and leave the person in whatever mental/physical state. In my country there's an big argue about assisted dying. Most people can't understand that there are people out there who just want it to have an end.

My buddy killed himself a long while back...he was hooked on cocaine and he let it enter all facets of his life:frown: When he tried to quit...every thing that he did reminded him of the drug...I was too caught up in trying to get things worked out with the girlfriend to really pay attention...have learnt from that situation...the girlfriend went her way and so did my friend...should have focused more attention on my friend...live and learn. Its one of the reasons that I wrote my book..."What About God?"

Dam:cool:

For men, suicide is in the top 10 list of how we die.
Sad thing is if the people went for help, they would get better. I may be wrong but it's caused by 1 of 2 things. Chemical imbalance is the cause in the VAST majority of cases. A pill will fix that. The other is an incomplete thought process. That can be solved too.

Well, I survived cancer, twice... and I believe you only live once and when you die, that's it. You rot and get eaten by worms... So... when you get diagnosed even once, why suffer? Fuck it, if it starts hurting, end it as soon as you can. I'd rather blow myself away than die slowly. People take life too seriously but they don't know that life is meaningless and we are all dust in the wind, so live 25 or 125 years, in the end it's all the same!

Drink Guinness, die happy!

That was really depressing to read. I'm glad my beliefs are what they are and not like yours. No offense, i just thought your comments were saddening.

My wife's cousin hanged himself last year. He was in his early 20's and nobody saw it coming. He had a rough childhood with a single mother who largely ignored him as she concentrated on rebuilding her own life. However, by the time he was an adult it seemed like he had a decent future ahead of him. He did leave a note, but only immediate family know of its contents. The rest of us just wonder how bad things could have been to drive him to that position. Really sad to throw away a young life with so much potential away like that.

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher high high
Pressure on people - people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love
but it's so slashed and torn
Why - why - why ?
Love love love love love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love give love give love give love
give love give love give love give love give love
'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And loves dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure

MASH theme?

Under Pressure by Queen. I had their cd's going yesterday on a 4 hour ride around one of the fingerlakes in the F-car. The song had me thinking about this thread.

Thanks for setting me straight pal.

What was that MASH music? I think it was called Suicide.

My cousin hanged himself in a hospital. I was 12 and I didn't know him too well as he was 18 and was never home when we visited. He had a Norton motorcycle and other cool toys. One day he showed up at our home with a huge car and I went for a ride with him and we spent the afternoon doing stuff. I remember we went to 7-11 and he surprised me by ordering a hunk of old cheddar. In 1970 they sold cheese cut from huge blocks of 5 kilos. I guess I was used to buying chocolate bars, slurpees, and chips only. My cousin used drugs but I don't know why he committed suicide.

I guess maybe we don't get over it as it affects us in some way.

The memories people leave with us are priceless. I have so many great memories of people from the past. Most of them include cars. There was this guy Jimmy who was 20 years older then me. He always had the coolest cars. Olds 442, Z28 the hottest rides. He was a great guy. He went off to Vietnam and left his car at my mothers house. When he returned from Vietnam he was never the same. He is currently a permanent resident of a mental institution.:frown: I remember rides in his car when I was just a young kid. He helped me buy my first car, Datsun 240Z. We worked on that car every weekend but it never made it on the road, legally.

I feel no pity for anyone that commits suicide. F''k 'em. In fact, I hope everyone who commits suicide, has second thoughts about it, but still dies, preferably a slow agonizing death. JMHO.

Oh yeah, Ski, can I have your car? I call dibs.
