I'm not fully up to speed on what makes a coil over set up a coil over setup so I'll ask here. I've got a an Eibach pro kit and koni yellow shocks on my nsx. Is there any difference from this setup versus a true coil over setup like tein or some other brand? I ask because I was just reading some car mag where they were saying a coilover suspension would be better than the stock setup, is this because the stock setup was not coil over or just isn't a good set up? Maybe someone can explain suspensions 101 to me if you have time. If coilovers have valid reasons why you'd want them on your nsx I'll be planning on doing that when my koni's wear out. But the koni/eibach seemed a very cost effective route to go initially.

well i was writing my gibberish post and i starting searching around for a pic of a coilover suspension and then i came upon this which can probably get out what i was trying to say better than i can.

Take a look

coilovers are better if you want to raise and lower your car, like if you drove it in the winter or wanted to slam it for car shows or want a particular height that isnt offered in preset springs.

just all depends on what you want to spend and what you are looking for. if i were to put any springs on a nsx, id probably go all out and get full coilovers. ive had springs/shocks before and i was unhappy with how low it was. it looked good, but would rub some and i was stuck with what i had cuz i didnt want to go drop more money right after that.

assuming all the internals and shock structure equal, the "full"/true coil over system will not have any edge on the non adjustability one. However, with proper alignment and corner balancing, the full Coil over suspension will be better than the non adjustable one since all cars are not created equal and in fact, most car aren't not even have the same weight on their left and right wheels.. (Honda Type R's are very good at that even they don't use the coil over suspension to balance, the assemblers/engineers spent extra time to tune the car that had perfect balance on them.)

now back to the reality, most full / true coil over system have better valves adjustment and they also utilize better material for the shock body, so yes in a way, it's generally true that the full coil over system is better than off the shelf koni and after market springs.
