Not exactly the best shots of my car, but by far the most interesting. We just got through stripping it down (still a few more things to take off) for the new paint job. I'll be going back with Grand Prix White and a SLIGHT hint of pearl for those sunny days. New Volk GT7s are on the way and my Vinny's side steps are being put on now. Enjoy the photos :)

white with black top

I love the white with black top color combination. Are you keeping the top black or painting that GPW as well?

Out of curiosity - how much labor will be required to:

- strip
- mask
- paint
- reassemble

Looks like a big job.

You're looking at 2 hours of stripping right there, of which I performed all myself. Its not very hard at all. The more you strip, the less masking time you have. We'll probably have an hour of masking time with 3 people working on it. Paint time will be over a period of 3 days. I have to mask the entire car to paint the roof, then let that fresh paint sit up long enough so that masking it will not harm it. Then i'll paint the white which will be about a half a day, possibly more. We're going with 3 base coats of GPW, 2 pearl coats, then 4 clear coats. 25 minutes in between coats. Reassembly is a snap when you've done it so many times. :)

If mine had a black top I think I would go for a NSX-R look. But, I like my white roof!

I am glad you kept your NSX. So few NSX's in Louisiana -- and even less cool owners.

Wow - it takes me 20 mins to strip myself! :D

I need 1/2 hour to get the car on jack stands all the way around and remove the tires.

You are obviously much better then me. Do you run a paint or body shop? You sound like someone that does this all the time...

Now's your chance to put on those front type R braces for a little more rigidity, since you have good exposure with the bumper cover off. there have been many times I have had some major work done but not looked down the road to future mods which meant extra labor costs and more downtime fwiw.

That hint of "Pearl" should look awesome! The factory paint should have had this - IMO!! :D

Just about got the side skirts mounted up. Some minor modifications to the front part where they mount up to the fender, was needed:

Whoa... those stick out an awful long way??

When I saw the title to this thread I thought your car was stripped down from a criminal act.....

Wow... i certainly did enjoy these photos; really interesting to see the "guts" of the car.
You definitely have to post some after shots.

Is there a reason you're going back to Grand Prix White? Just bored and nothing else to mod on your car? :p

If my car was black, i'd be doing a color change to Orange, but after about a 1 hour review and assessment, I've opted against it. There are ENTIRELY too many places that I would have to paint to do a true color change, and IMO, its not worth the time. I bought my car because I liked GPW, so I've decided to just do a better paint job than the one Honda did ;) I'll be SURE to post plenty of aftershots, Neo. Thanks!

im loving this, are you riveting the skirt to the body?
We used the hardware that Vinny included, which was 4 or 5 screws to affix them to the brackets. We made our own brackets for added stability under the front fender.

on a scale 1-5.. whats is the quality of the vinnie's sides as far as fitment and any serious body work on the car that is required for it to fit? Ive heard different stories thats why i ask.. thanks alot!:D

5 being the best, and if you're just referring to fittiment, i'll say 3. The part of the skirts that meets the fender, has a small part of it thats cut at a 90 degree angle and is intended to wrap inside the fender. That part is cut perfectly, but when you place this 'notch' exactly where it wraps, you come up short where the fender and the door meet, which is where Vinny puts the wire mesh that is supposed to slip into the crack where the door and the fender meet. We had to grind the 90 degree lip off the front part, hang the skirts with masking tape (see photo above), then rebuild that lip. Didnt take much time at all, and it actually fits better than it would have had we not had to cut. I was told that these sides were, perhaps, made to fit cars with the widebody kit, which would explain the slightly smaller size of that particular part of the piece. Since we were 'forward' a quarter inch or so on the front, the back had to be notched to fit flush as well. You can see the small cut i made, on the photo from the rear. I am VERY happy with the way the sit on the car now. Cannot WAIT to see it all painted :)

Those are great photos that detail the steps you have gone through, looking forward to seeing the finish.

NSXnBRLA,

I had also thought that the mesh was inserted into the crack where the door and fender meet. However, it just didn't seem to work for me, so I instead trimmed the mesh to follow the contours of the fenders, covered the the trimmed mesh edge with some of that black edging that is supplied, and now the mesh sits butted up to the fender, which is protected from the mesh by the edging.

Maybe the attached pic will help people understand how what goes on to get those installed. It would've been helpful for instructions to be included. I spent four hours just trying to figure out how to mount those things.
