Well gang, if you dont mind, say a prayer for me and everyone else on the gulf coast that is about to get clobbered. It looks as though we will get a pretty hard hit from Katrina(just went to Cat. 4, 145mph winds  ). Both of my stores are close to the beach(one about 3/4mile, one about 5 miles). Jim Cantorie(weather channel) is in our city,Biloxi, and everyone knows they send him where they think it will be worst :frown: I wish everyone that is in LA, MS, AL the best of luck with this powerful storm. Off to bed I go, I'm gonna have a busy day of packing inventory tomorrow.

Wishing you the best! Hopefully it'll keep drifting westward and find some relatively uninhabited spot in LA to come ashore instead.

Good luck! This one was sneaky ,first land fall a weak 1 but now could be a strong4-5 for a second land fall.

Katrina was predicted to come ashore where I live and it took a quick turn to the south where it wasn't expected to hit. The damage, although not as bad as what Katrina can do now, was shocking to everyone.

Good luck and be safe.

Brett,

Good Luck

Tim

lets all say a prayer for those trying to move out of its path..and those that cant move out of its path. Katrina looks very destructive.

I cannot believe you stayed. Did you not read about Camille, fool? :)

Calling him a fool is a little uncalled for IMO.
I was in Mobile during Hurrican Frederick so I know firsthand what kind of destruction that could possibly happen. I feel sick to my stomach watching the weather channel and seeing what is going on over there.
I hope you and your family are safe.
I just heard a story of a building 1/2 mile from beach that is 27ft above sea level that has 10ft of water in the first floor.
My thoughts and prayers certainly go out to everyone in the region being affected by this terrible storm. :frown:

We'll see how bad it gets in a few. Right now its the calm before the storm
Brett
I hope you used the "Common Sense" approach and got out of there before Katrina hit. My prayers are with everyone affected by the storm.

Possibly, but considering we've been good friends for 4 years, the fact that I had just hung up the phone with him and the smilie face after the statement, I dont think there's any problems here.

Also, that was the last time I talked to Brett. I have tried numerous times to reach him by NexTel and cell phone calls with no luck. I will keep trying but as of now I don't know whats going on. Gulfport got hit pretty hard as did the rest of the Gulf coast. Keep him and his wife in your prayers please.

NSXnBRLA keep us posted. Last I heard there was no cell phone communications available due to all the antenaes were wiped out during the storm. I hope he is OK, that is the scariest site I think I have ever seen, terrible aftermath! My prayers go out to all the people out there.

I just spoke with SNDSOUL finally. He called me on his Nextel to let me know that him and his family were safe, but couldnt say the same for the city of Gulfport. He said the entire city is leveled basically. They have no power, no water and no fuel. All the gas stations are leveled. Luckily his house only suffered minor damage to the roof which he is patching up. Unfortunately, his in-laws all lost their homes. The city has predicted 4-7 weeks with no utilities. His car audio store in Gulfport rode the storm out but was a victim of looting twice and his store 1 town over was destroyed.

He also told me that every casino on the gulf coast was blown across the street on tops of hotels and houses. Also that most structures within a few blocks or more of the coast have been completely destroyed.

On a good note, his NSX emerged without a scratch and is still tucked safely away in his garage.

It's my fault. I vacationed at Gulf Shores a few years ago, and last year it got destryed by a hurricane. This year we spent a week in Gulfport, and now this happened.

I'm headed to Portland, OR in a month. Anyone there should leve now...

I understand then. I'm just a little touchy when it comes to this type of tragedy. I went thru Hurricane Fredrick in 1979 and was horrified and terrbily upset by all the devastation I saw as a young child. I went thru not having power, water and things like that for a few days during that time. It was no fun, even for a child.
I just about can't bear to watch the news anymore and see all the bad stuff going on over there. It breaks my heart.
I currently have friends and family in MS and AL that I haven't heard from yet either so i'm concerned for them also.
Glad to hear that Brett and family are alright though. I 'guess' it's a good thing his car survived. Makes me wonder if given the choice, would he have chosen to have the NSX leveled and his business and relatives homes back together??? Kinda makes our cars seem pretty small in comparison.

I think he'd make that swap in a heartbeat. I would like to think most of us would. Not so much for the businesses, but for the homes of ours and our families...

I think he would and others would as well. Just thought it was interesting that knowing a car is safe is such a trivial thing in a time like this.

Glad to hear he is safe, Insurance will cover the cars and crap, I saw a story about a body found floating in the street...Insurance can never repair the damage to that family,,,keep praying..JZ

Life is funny like that. Every once and a while, especially when you are too worried about trivial things, it will snatch you up and make you take notice of what it is important. I post hear for fun and love of the NSX, but I thought about SOUNDSOUL off and on all day hoping that he and his family were all safe. I have never met him, but I am glad all is well and my heart goes out to all of the other people down south.
