Hello I was wondering if any of your speed sensors had failed. The other day I was cruising at about 60 when, all of a sudden, the speedo dropped to 20 then back up to 60 in a matter of a second or two. The dealer told me that it was probably the speed sensors. A friend of mine said that it happend on his civic and all it was, was the connectors corroding. Could this be possible? Also, where are the speed sensors located on the NSX? To top it off yesterday after I realized this I floored it on first and the redline kicked in at about 7400rpms, then I tried it again and it was fine same old 8000. Could this be related to the speed sensors? Thanks for your time on this pretty long post.

The problem you are having is probably due to the VSS (vehcle speed sensor) that is attached to the top of the transmission. If the connection loosens up, or if dirt get's into the connection, you will have the symptoms you described.

It's difficult for me to explain where the connector is, maybe someone else can assist you with it's location. Maybe I can take a digital picture of it an e-mail it to you.

Good luck.

I don't know about the speedometer, but the rev limiter is lower when the engine is not warmed up. If you start the car when it's cold and wind it up, the rev limiter kicks in at a little over 7000 (I forget the exact number). After five minutes or so, when the engine is warmer the rev limiter will be high again.

The possibility of it being loose or dirty sounds about right because I just drove the car and it is not happening now. As to the engine being cold, I had been driving for about 20 minutes so I doubt it was that, but it hasnt happend again so I guess its ok.
