First ticket ever.

Got caught speeding with laser gun going 67mph at 50mph zone. I saw the officer on bike 300feet away and slowed down to 50mph, yet it was too late.

Unfortunately the officier issued the ticket and insisted that it was 45mph zone at where he clocked me, however I was in 50mph zone without a doubt. Is it worth going to court and fight for the 5mph difference. I can go back to the area and take pictures of the speed limit sign.

It was at Colima rd, which is a mountain road like highway near Haciena Heights. I never been to that area before. I was there to pick up front mount intercooler for my Supra, I was driving NSX.

I thought usually officier would give +/- 10mph break. On my ticket not only did I not get any break, he added 5mph to my ticket to make it 22mph over the limit instead of 17mph.

What kind of damage am I looking at fine wise 22mph vs 17mph. Is it possible to take traffic school online?

Thanks in advance

Did you get written up for 22349 or 22350? 22350 I wrote in a trial by declaration and won and the procedure was pretty easy. Yes, there are online traffic schools but it might be worth it for you to fight it. I know a guy who keeps getting extensions and delays the court case and when he finally has to go, he shows up and the cop doesn't. There are some websites out there like www.helpigotaticket.com and www.speedtrap.org that can give you some pointers.

Bradley,

Thanks a lot for the info , the ticket is 22350.

Cool, the 22350 I did a lot of what that website suggested but I did it all over a trial by declaration, didn't even have to show up in court.

I took a picture of the intersection where the ticket was given. Traffic was empty and it showed wide lanes. The ticket was given to me at about 12:30 AM when traffic was light and there is no parking available on the street. Weather conditions were good and I was cited for doing 60 in a 45 MPH zone. Given the weather conditions, the fact that no cars were out on the street, the street was straight, the fact that it was 12:30 AM, I was not endangering persons or property. I mailed in my declaration citing vehicle code 22350, the picture, paid the bail. They responded back and told me a refund was being sent back to me and that the case had been dismissed.

22350. No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.

I'm just curious. Are you driving without a front plate? If so, did the officer cite you for that? I always get hassled, so now all of our cars have front plates. Thanks!

No, I never had front plate on any of our cars in the past. No problems yet. But I will display the front plate from now on just in case.

There were no traffics on the road when I got pulled over. The road is easily good to go up to 80mph on normal cars or 90mph for Nsx. I guess my nsx was a shinny white target under the bright sun today.

The toughest part for me to swallow was the incorrect citing of speeding in 45mph zone instead of 50mph zone.

if you can take photo, or other evidence on incorrect citing, then you can ask for dismissal of the case in court.
