Speeding Ticket! Need some advice

Knowing the right people can always help but if you don't know the right people don't speed. If you don't have a badge don't expect to be treated like a police officer.

I know how you feel. I hate getting tickets. Everyone hates getting tickets. The system isn't fair everyone speeds and you feel like you are the only one that gets nailed. Cop's don't get tickets. The fine ups your insurance. It just all sucks, but who ever said it was fair?

The old saying that cops get away with everything is B.S.! I've written other cops tickets for driving excessive. A badge is not a free pass to do what you want. I stay within 10 mph over where ever I'm driving because I don't believe in citing someone else for doing something I do myself. Yeah, there have been a few times where I've kicked my car down on a long straight away where there was no traffic....but I've also given people breaks when they've been caught doing 80mph (in a 55) on a straight away out in the middle of nowhere. You have to take into account the type of driver and type of car. A 16 year old in his daddy's corvette doing 90 down the highway needs a ticket. A guy in his mid- 20's and up doing the same thing in "his car" that can handle higher speeds.....may get a break. Now of course I'm a bit biased because I have a sports car myself, however I try not to pick on the people with nice cars. We pay enough in payments and insurance already  I still believe in the saying "You play, you pay". Always keep that in mind. I also know I am probably the minority when it comes to my opinions on citing...

Why would he consider doing such a thing? Traffic school is a waste of time and it's full of degenerates. I went to traffic school about six years ago and during the break two people were caught smoking pot. What did the instructor do? He kicked them out and let them drive away. Real smart!!!

If our friend here has a an escape, then by all means he should take it. I'd enter a guilty plea without adjudication and then pay my guy the 50 bucks and enjoy a night on the couch watching your favorite program. It's nice once in a while to have corruption on our side. We hear so much of in the legal and political system anyway, and who is it going to hurt by not going to traffic school for three hours.

Your comments make me wonder what else you would get away with if you could. I hope you don't have the mob on you speed dial for those situations where someone cannot pay for a teeth cleaning

It is nice to get away with something once and awhile. However, just because you hear about corruption in our legal/political system doesn't mean it's everywhere. Being an honerable person means you stand up for your mistakes...and a few hours in traffic school with the "Degenerates" (as you put them) is a good deal considering the other option!

Its not always easy to see the good in a situation, especially when there are fines and whatnot attached to it. However, maybe you (alittleboost) getting that ticket has slowed you down enough (or atleast has made you more cautious) on the road. Could have already saved you life!! We had an accident last monday where a 25 year old was distracted and blew a stop sign. It was at the intersection of a fairly busy 2 lane highway. 1 or 2 seconds either way would have saved his life. However, he was T-boned by a large SUV pulling 8 snowmobiles. The truck ripped the top of his little car off which caused the guy to be ejected. The life flight came out, however the guy didn't make it.

Try and see the ticket as a positive experience.... Read this story and it might help with some perspective..... THE BRICK

Murder, but I'm not O.J. and I've never even punched another individual. Trust me, sometimes I wish I had contacts with the mob to collect the money that people own me.

It sure would feel nice, but I've never said that I've gotten away with anything, and the only law that I've ever broken has been a traffic law. I have never once complained or posted that I recieved a speeding ticket that I did not deserve. If I get caught I call the ticket lawyer that I use and I let him handle the situation. For every ticket that I've gotten, I've always paid the fine and did the time (in traffic school). It is just amusing that there is corruption at such a low level in the system.

I have respect for people in law enforcement, it's just the attitude that some of them have. There are always good and bad people in every profession, it's just the bad one's that we always hear about.

I have a friend (I'll keep him anonymous) who attended onlinetrafficschool.com. From the time he started to the time he went to take the test at mailboxes etc. was 45mins. Like my momma always told me. Do the right thing!

too bad most courts(SD/OC) don't allow the online schools anymore...I guess some idiots must have let the wrong person know what a joke those things were..The traffic court system has really changed alot in the last couple of years(at least here in SD) they don't even reduce fines anymore if you show up and plead guilty, so you might as well just send them a check(save your time), fight it and hope the cop dosen't show up or bite the bullet and take 8 hours out of your weekend and go to traffic school...or unless you have a friend in the DMV who can somehow produce traffic school completion certificates to send to the court to have your case dismissed, then do that  but I'd be careful, cuz 8 hours and $30 bucks could turn into 8 months and $3000 if somehow $hit goes wrong...

As much as I love attorneys....I should spam that phone number

here's a couple funny ones.....
A man went to a brain store to get some brain to complete a study. He sees a sign remarking on the quality of professional brain offerred at this particular brain store. He begins to question the butcher about the cost of these brains.
"How much does it cost for engineer brain?"
"Three dollars an ounce."
"How much does it cost for programmer brain?"
"Four dollars an ounce."
"How much for lawyer brain?"
"$1,000 an ounce."
"Why is lawyer brain so much more?"
"Do you know how many lawyers we had to kill to get one ounce of brain?"

I have read these posts and am struck by the emotions and energy displayed. I hate to say it but I am sure in the 50 years plus that I have driven that I have had more tickets than probably all of you combined. I even think I must have a Phd in traffic school. Berfore Sacramento kept good records I use to attend one traffic school for several tickets from different counties. I also found myself attending the same traffic school two or three times in a six month time frame. Of course now, you can only attend if the last traffic school occurred over 18 months ago. And certain violations will not allow traffic school. In my humble opinion after many many tickets (some of which I did not feel were deserved) I just take the straight course of action. If my insurance will sustain the ticket without an increase in penalties then I pay the fine and be done with it. I save traffic school for that occasional high speed ticket where I will need it. Yes, while I hate going to traffic school, I will say that it has made me a safer driver. I drive very defensively anticipating that someone will screw up. When I was younger I did not think so much about others. Now I know that in the traffic of today it will be someone making an unsafe turn or reckless speed with abrupt lane changes that will catch me off guard.

I personally would not want to pay someone to attend for me. They are typically asked for their license to prove who they are. If you are caught could the resulting penalty be much worse than the original fine. Impersonation might be more than a simple misdemeanor? A judge could use you as an example. Having said that.

You do admit that you broke the law. Take your medicine. It is sort of like if seven of us rob a bank but they only catch me--I guess I was the unlucky bastard. That old saying do the crime do the time. Besides life is beautiful and a ticket is nothing to get one's hair messed up about.

I guess the saying is true "with age comes wisdom"

The word wisdom could also be replaced with compliance!

Here's my opinion.

Since you're able to go to traffic school, then you should take that route. You have aknowledge your fault...so might as well.

If you are not able to attend traffic school, then it doesn't hurt to fight it in court. You have nothing to lose (other than time...and time for others mean money).

What I have noticed that CHP rather spend their time on the road giving out tickets than attending court. They can probably give out more tickets while they're out there vs. spending half a day in fighting one case.

I went to court one time to fight a legitimate case, but he never showed up the first time. The court issue a new court date. The second time, he didn't show up again so they dismissed it.

good luck...

PS: traffic school is not too bad...you might me your dream girl :)

They should've dismissed it on the first no-show from the cop? Am I missing something?
