When I purchased my '94 2 years ago, it was in great shape with only a few minor imperfections which have since been corrected with the exception of one. The speaker grill cloth has been stained somewhat and I have wanted to have it replaced. I was wondering if anyone has attempted this before and what was involved. Does the door panel need to be removed in order to get the piece out? Can the piece simply be cleaned or will it need to removed and re-covered? If so is it better to buy a replacement from Acura or has anyone found a source for a good replacement cloth?
Thanks in advance.

Good question. I'm having the same problem with my 94's tan interior speaker covers. I can't seem to get them clean. I do know you have to take the door panels off to remove them. Big pain and too much work for now. Love to hear some solutions.

I had a similar problem on a '91 Legend that I owned. I had to remove the door panel to get to the back side of tthe speaker grill. The grill has metal tabs that extend through the door panel and are folded over to retain the grill in place. Straighten the tabs, and the grill pops out. Cleaning was of little help. I found a matching color of dark blue spray paint and painted the fabric. It turned out very well, and was less hassle than trying to match the fabric and glue new peices to the grill frame. If your NSX has a black interior like mine, then trplacement would be an easier option.

It's not really a tan interior--I have a black interior with sparco seats but could not find reasonably priced stock black seats. Ended up buying tan seats with the tan interior..The dash is still black with just just tan strips at the console area. Door panels are black with a tan strip at bottom----but yes the panels behind the seats are tan rather than black for the most part...Glove compartment is still black.. So it's really a black interior with tan accents if we ignore the seats---LOL

Seems like the grill (tan color) gets frayed at bottom 5 o'clock position--think people clip their shoes on same getting out of the car. Mine has not been installed yet and so I am interested in outcome here. There are fabric stores out there and I am going to check them out---Hey Red Sabrina---the stockings are too fragile--they would develop runs HAHA

They should really be a metal fabric grid IMO. I'd be easier to pull dents out than clean. If I replace mine I'll look into that or else just get black so the dirt doesn't show.

A good much of the tan interior is black (dash, console, door panel, etc). Only the seats, floor mats, back panels, ceiling and accents are tan in the stock version. But that's enough to make it a little cooler in the summer sun LOL.
