Southwest Airlines travel and low fare tips

Are there anything different from the SWA emails that I have been getting? I get these on a regualr basis.
The ones I get seem to be regular SWA ads talking about 14 day advanced purchases.

Anyone getting anything better or different than that?

Has anybody received anything from this guy??? I PM'd him way back when and have yet to receive the list. Just wondering if anyone got the goods yet.

Schuey1010, He may be away, I was forwarded the info and contained many things I had never considered. Very informative

lafun2, I have just sent it to you and the others who have given me emails within the past day or so. I used bcc last time for privacy. Perhaps your spam filter is misclassified it?

New 5-hour sale fares daily!!

Email sent out this week by SWA:

"We are so excited to announce the arrival of DING!, our newest customized product designed to bring our hottest deals directly to your desktop. These fares are available only for DING! subscribers and are so hot that sometimes they may only be offered for a single day, or even just a few hours.

Download and install DING! now to create a direct link from us to your desktop. Once you complete the installation, a Southwest Airlines icon will appear on your system tray (on the lower right corner of your screen). You will be notified of a new offer by hearing a DING! and the icon on your desktop will indicate a message is waiting. DING! offers are only available through this direct connection and will not be available for purchase through any other booking method.

Not only will DING! bring you great deals from Southwest Airlines, if you download and install it between February 28th and March 7th, we'll deposit two Rapid Rewards credits in your account. DING! Now that's a deal!

Don't miss out! Learn more about DING!

Southwest Airlines Terms and Conditions

Two (2) bonus credits will be automatically deposited into the Member's account if DING! download and installation is completed between February 28, 2005 and March 7, 2005 and the Member keeps the application installed on their desktop for 30 days. All Rapid Rewards rules and regulations apply."

Signup link is http://www.southwest.com/ding/?src=RREU_RD2_022805

This is a generic link. When you enter your city and zip code to register, BE SURE to enter your Rapid Rewards number ON THAT SCREEN. This is the ONLY CHANCE you have to enter your RR number and qualify for the 2 bonus credits. If you install Ding on a second machine, use your spouse's RR number, since each RR account can only get 2 credits this way.

The Ding Fares so far are sent out once or twice per day for 100 markets or more, and they seem to be 50% of Fun Fares for the selected markets. Availability is quite good, but the sales expire within several hours, so you have to move fast.

These fares are lower than anything else you will get anywhere, so when your city pair shows up, buying the ticket is a safe bet. I just saved my mother $75 by re-booking a May trip at the Ding fare.

Secret "sale within a sale"

Each Ding sale so far contains a "Daily Double". It's a fare that appears at a fairly ordinary sale price on the big list, but when you click to book it, it shows up MUCH lower.

This morning's Easter egg is MDW-LAX $44+tax = $54 each way. Unreal. Yesterday it was SEA and LAS. Earlier were OAK AND TPA. EVERY ONE OF THESE had the other end point at MDW. And they were all $44 ($50 for TPA).

The MDW-LAX deal runs until 330PM Central today (sales are typically 6 hours long). Travel dates are consistently May2-June23 for the Ding sales this week.

Secret hidden fares within Ding sales have disappeared. I don't know why.

You can access Ding sales without Ding installed on your computer, IF you have an installID and checksum from any prior installation on any machine. PM me for details if you need to do this, for example if you use a Mac.

Email finally sent today to two people who PMed me within the last several days.
