SOUTH KOREA: Grade 9 student beaten to death in class.

PLEASE I NEED YOU TO READ TO THE END. I HAVE FOUND SUCH SOURCES, WITNESS ACCOUNTS, AND MEDIA REPORTS. they were rare. When I typed in Pusan Kaesong Highschool Murder Incident in Korean, it was interesting to see that no official report was done by major media companies except KBS, and all of them were found on PERSONAL HOMEPAGES or BLOGS.

all english based korean media are keeping silent.
I will provide all the sources I can regarding this incident. I couldn't find it in any major Korean media. However, there are myriads of blogs relating to this incident.

I managed to find one official article on KBS(Korean Broadcast System), a major Korean media. However, little is discussed.

Here are some detailed articles (in Korean translated best i can into english)

The rest of the article relates and interviews the girl who commited suicde, after being bullied. I will stop here for now.

INTERNET USERS BOYCOTT NAVER.COM AND RELATED PORTAL SITES, IN RESULT OF THE DEATH OF STUDENT HONG, BY STUDENT CHOI (Son of Naver.com President).

http://ec.ne.kr/?doc=bbs/gnuboard.php&bo_table=bbs&wr_id=198

The school claims student Choi to be a top student, and a valuable student. They greatly reduced the investigation, as well as pressuring the victim's parents so that they too could not be too open in public.

Major south korean internet search engines such as http://www.Daum.net, http://www.naver.com (equivalent to Google.com) have erased the index files linking to student Choi, as well as the incident. Any messeage board thread containing student Choi's name or the incident were deleted. Words are that Choi's wealthy parents bribed the owners in return for the censorship of their son's scandal.

The fact that Choi's name has been placed on the search engine's blacklist so rapidly and that their version of the incident is completely different, deep suspicions arise from the people.

The korean search engines and portal sites repoted that posting information about Choi is against the Internet Law of Republic of Korea, and that any further information regarding the incident will be automatically banned and removed.

The fact that this murder has taken place in a classroom, as well as this news not making the headlines, and several blogs, or personal homepages relating to the incident are being hacked and removed. Many are calling it "Cyber Terrorism."

There is a petition site, but it is constantly being hassled by the site.
This is a petition recently started(in Korean), although I have left a message in english, to show that people outside of Korea are aware of this tragedy.

Ever since the incident, there is a war between Naver.com Daum.net who claims that they have the right to protect privacy of Choi, and the thousands of internet users boycotting the use of such search engines services.

WITNESS ACCOUNT. FRIEND OF VICTIM.

This is a witness's testimonial addressed to the Blue House( South korea's equivalent to the White House in America.) ,found on the School Board of Busan Province, South Korea.

"I have witnessed the murder of my fellow student Hong Sung-In. However, I fear for what will happen to me if I reveal my identity. I will tell you how it all happened. My friend Hong Sung-In listend and worked hard during class. Didn't study much(better than fucking bastard Choi) . Anways, Hong went to return the math textbook he borrowed from the neighbor class, As he went to pass the book, Choi moved and the book BRUSHED him. My friend Hong said "Sorry," and tried to get out. As Hong was walking out, Choi called him and told him to give him 5 reasons why he hit him. For each reason, Choi punched him directly to the chest. Hong tried didn't scream, and Choi appeared to be embarrassed that his punches weren't making Hong scream. So Choi called Hong again, and this time he kicked Hong who collapsed. Then Choi jumped on Hong's chest with his full weight. After 3 minutes of continual beating, Hong lost consciousness, and foam started forming around his mouth. I regret it so much. Everyone was afraid that if they tired to stop him they would get beat too. What comes next is worse. Hong already unconsciouss, and foam coming out of his mouth, was beaten with a chair by Choi. Suddenly, the Gym teacher came in, and separated Choi, and called 119 Emergency.

The teacher didn't say a word to Choi.

The hospital was only 1 minute drive in a Taxi. However, we had to wait till the ambulance got here 20 minutes after. Already, my friend Hong was dead, he lived with an artificial respirator. For the days following, he couldn't get any operation done, because any operation would result in death. For 4 days, Hong was in this situation in the hospital. Then he finally died.

On Choi(assailant)'s personal homepage, he posted the following message to his friends.

"Don't worry guys, I might not go to jail after all."

Believing in the power and wealth of his parents, he shows know remorse for commiting murder.

Today, all the big corporate search engines and portal sites are masking this incident. This is wrong.

I beeseech the government to bring justice. "

What's more shocking is the letter by Hong's Mother. But I dont think i have the right to post her message without permission. All the sources i have provided above are genuine, and translated the best I could.

TO ROBR,

I don't have any email listings of the media in America. Do you think you could help me out? Should send them these translations? I don't know what to do, and I will greatly appreciate it if this could be somehow made noticed to the public in America, Canada.

Once again thank you to all NSXprime.com readers. Your attention is very much appreciated.

sad but true.......

money/wealth = greed/corruption...and it don't matter where you live....

"money/wealth = greed/corruption"

WRONG.

There are as many greedy and corrupt among the poor as among the wealthy. Actually far more.

The wealthy have far lower rates of interpersonal violence, crime, and other social ills than the poor do. They raise usually civilized children. Most criminals are just violent people who prey on others out of sociopathy and greed. And, they tend to end up very poor because violent crime does not pay.

ya. very very true.
but when someone gets a way with crime, because of his wealth and status, is simply wrong. because what is wrong will always be wrong, and wrong should be reviewed and punished accordingly to the justice system.

robr, i have sent you my email address.

yeah, but they have so much $$$$$, it doesn't even matter what they do(crime or political)...Anyway, I'm not trying to compare poor to wealthy, cause that's another new topic...

Wealth and status do not simply make it wrong. Using wealth and status usuallly equates to getting better attorneys, accountants, other professionals to act in the clients best interests. This is all part of the judicial system whether in the U.S. or Korea.

On the other hand, this story is quite interesting. However, there are always two sides to the story, it would sure be interesting to hear the other side.

im not saying being wealthy is wrong. of course, if one has the ability to get the best of the best of attorneys lawyers blah blah, how can that be blamed?

i think i know Korea better. its not quite at the same level at America when it comes to justice. This case is much different.

the fact that the assailan'ts parents wealthy income has given them the power to bribe, the school, the principal, police, and the major search engines is differentiating. of course the other ppl will be like theres no evidence of this and shit. but the fact that incidents such as this is a huge shock to the society, and that it was kept secret for several weeks after, and the fact that it still hasn't made headlines in Korea is very suspicious. Filtering of the words, deleting posts about the incident on forum sites, blogs and personal homepages getting removed or banned relating to this issue.

and the school pressuring the victim's parents not to take legal action, because Choi is a honor roll student and the principal mysertiously closing the case abruptly.

victim's voices are being suffocated by the fat motherfuckers who were too busy fattening their pockets....

which side would you believe? the killer's parents? that instead of punishing their child, they hide it with money?

OR the victim's family and the entire class who witnessed the murder, as well as the thousands of angry citizens boycotting and hacking to shutdown major corporate search engines censoring this incident?

First off, if you read your post #33, it states:

"but when someone gets a way with crime, because of his wealth and status, is simply wrong. because what is wrong will always be wrong, and wrong should be reviewed and punished accordingly to the justice system."

You don't seem to understand that having wealth and status and exercising those tools in the court system is a part of the judicial system. Getting a case dismissed, found not guilty, etc, IS part of the justice system. Your implications that it is necessary to be found guilty in order to exercise justice is absurd.

You've also made a comment that you think you know Korea better. Based on what facts are you making such broad statements? The reason I ask, is that your personalty on this thread indicates that you are quick to conclusions (without knowing the facts and yes I am Korean too), how quickly did you come to your conclusion in the story?

"like theres no evidence of this and shit."

Why do you suppose people rant about evidence? Maybe to distinguish between valid and invalid claims. Because if a guilty conviction required only an accusation, the entire world would be behind bars.

"but the fact that incidents such as this is a huge shock to the society, and that it was kept secret for several weeks after, and the fact that it still hasn't made headlines in Korea is very suspicious."

Where to begin? Korea has had its fair share of scandals and this would be just one addition to a bag full of them. I question the whole shock theory because I sure as hell am not surprised. Why hasn't this story made the headlines? I'm guessing something to do with that thing called evidence....seems there a shortage of that in this story.

and with comments like this, I'm not sure your creditability here is growing,

"victim's voices are being suffocated by the fat motherfuckers who were too busy fattening their pockets...."

In all honestly, if this story pans out to be true, I am not defending Choi or what the parents of Choi did. However, if they choose to use money, influence, status, etc to defend their child in the judicial system, that is ultimately their choice. If you or anyone else feels they have too much money, well.....tough luck, get a better paying job and support the other guy. One more word of advice, don't be so quick to conclusions without getting both sides of the story.

Please don't try to reeducate me on the judcial systems and such....my point is not that.

you obviously do not understand what i made out in my latest post.

"im not saying being wealthy is wrong. of course, if one has the ability to get the best of the best of attorneys lawyers blah blah, how can that be blamed?"

this means, im not against ppl buying people talking for them.
But was this the case surrouding the murder? Obviously not. Why need lawyers, when you've filled the mouths of the police department, the school prrincipal, and school board.

Ya. If you got money sure buy yourself a lawyer when your in trouble. what I AM AGAINST, is the exploitation of their wealth and status to unfairly treat the victim. SO YOU THINK IF YOU HAVE MONEY, BRIBING IS PART OF THE JUSTICE? because of the bribe, the justice system incorrectly comes to the conclusion such as closing the case, claiming not guilty as you mentioned that indeed they are what makes the judicial system.

Imagine your son killed, by Choi. You can't speak out because of the threats and the pressure because you are poor. You don't get a fair say, because the media has been well payed off to ignore you. You don't get equal treatment because you are poor.

School should not be a fucking political ground.

Look, it seems to me you don't fully understand the situation. And if you are Korean, I assume you can read too. I suggest you go through all of my sources I have pumped out, as well as paying a visit to the various message boards in Korean, and please Please READ HONG'S MOTHERS LETTER.found.

I make conclusions after I have sufficiently gathered enough reliable sources. I know i have been very emotional about South Korea, but I could not help it. My other long post about me tells you why.

Without knowing the facts? I think i've provided sufficient sources for the rest of the people to decide.

Next time you make a conclusion, make sure you understand the topic. You are on the wrong page here.

The sources, no, the truth is looking directly at your face, you fail to see it.

In the bag of scandals as you mentioned, this is the final one that is causing millions of internet users in Korean to protest. Why? because school has now officially become a political ground. Yes, therre were few other incidents that resulted in mass protesting. However, to say that this incident merely belong in your "bag of scandals," is quite disappointing. Its gone too far, and the people are realizing the truth, and thirsty for the answer.

How can i read the other side of the story, when it is censored? They choose to keep silent, because they are ashamed.

Anyone. i mean anyone, despite their race, with a common sense, and a little brain will see really whats going on. Incidents like this is not news.

You've jumped at the conclusion that theres nothing unusual going on about this incident. That its absolutely nothing wrong with rich abusing their power especially in the form of bribery. That its ALL PART OF THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM.

What judicial system? It wasn't even practiced properly in this case. The police, why do you think the police is cooperating with the school? hint hint. bulging pockets. Choi will be serving only 2 years.

"If you or anyone else feels they have too much money, well.....tough luck, get a better paying job and support the other guy. "

Money does not solve all.

I have eaten, breathed, and shit everything I could possibly find out about Korea. I have had knowledgable sources beyond books, tv, internet, radio when it the subject came down to Korea. Why Korea? because nobody really knows it relatively compared to China, and Japan. I felt that being Korean, that it was my duty to be able to fully defend my country, should confusions, or queries arise. I mentioned before, history is my passion.

There are people who know Korea in much more detail than me. But after reading your post, it has been made certain that I know more about Korea, at least than you.

I did not want to argue. But you've left me no choice. Your lack of understanding surrounding this incident had to be addressed.

Before you make another post, please make an effort to read the sources again, and the victim's mother's angry letter.

Agreed, I will stop raising judicial issues as long as you stop raising absurd judicial statements.

By the way, I never stated bribery should be used in the judicial system....go back and reread my post (in english...I'm assuming you can read) I said professionals, lawyers, accountants, etc. This does not entail bribery.

I think I understand your position fine.....although I may have a bone to pick with the words you chose. Your preaching equality....I'm all for that. But when you jump the gun, jump to conclusions, make erroneous statements, your ignorance annoys me. (Remember this statement?)

"I really wish Choi and his family would come visit a school in United States or Canada. If he did something like that here, there is no doubt, he will be SHOT WITH A GUN IN THE FACE."

Sounds like a very rash, mature and competent individual who can make a rational decision without letting his emotions cloud his mind.

If what happened was true....my heart goes out to the affected family. However, before you scream inequality, wait for the judicial system to work its course.

And as far as politics goes......wake up and smell the coffee. Politics is everywhere, its in your church, in your schools, in your workplace, even in your home. Is it right or wrong, I don't know. But it is a reality and that is what you need to face.

With regards to all your other statements regarding the credibility of your information versus mine....your Korean CIA ties, your unlimited knowledge with police practice/procedure, political ties, etc....GOOD FOR YOU. Now go out there and make use of those connections to better Korea!

Good luck and I am done!!!!

I don't think i've ever seen politics get heavily involved as this incident, anywhere. Never has such a school in Canada has known to become this political, nor America(?). i don't know cuz i don't live in america, so i "won't jump to conclusions."

You know what fuck it all. cause i am too tired to write anything anymore. too tired to argue.

for the past few days I have been so worked up over this case.....agreed, lets let time do its magic.

My last wish is for this news to be known. Im sending this out to various medias in America and Canada. Big thanks to robr for the idea, and his help.

hopefully, time won't bury this incident, yet we can only hope that justice eventually prevails.

I'll put a closure to this issue.....our hearts go out to the victim, thats what matters.

and lets all pray that this never happens again, ANYWHERE on ANY SCHOOL.

Dood,
If you are going to complain, then just complain and call it a day. I dont see the need to argue with anyone on an internet forum where based on a few posts you consider yourself more Korean than another person and affirm your absolute opinion because of that.

I'm sure you love your country, everyone should. After eating and shitting in Korea, you should know that bribery is rampant. What happened about 15 years ago when all those commercial buldings (and MANY people died not just 1) crumbed because of shotty construction and they found the regulators to have been bribed by the construction company. More recently, the IBM bribe scandal, Park Ton Sun and the fundrasing bribery of US congressman, MBC's news bribery scandal, Kepco bribing the AECL for energy products, and the list goes on. So here news, IT AINT THE FIRST TIME SOMETHING LIKE HAS HAPPENED! ESPECIALLY IN KOREA!

I feel terrible for the guy that this happened and their family, but you are starting to sound like a little crying b**** and your posts and reasonings are wearing away on any sympathy I may have orginally had for them and for you. So lets do the Korean thing, and I'll give 5 bux to shut up already.

ya i will definitely need that 5 bux to buy myself a joint, so i can get high, and forget about all of this.

i made it clear in my last post, that i wanted closure. but obviously u weren't smart enough. what do you want from these poiontless arguments? i never wanted to argue, but few individuals here have misunderstood views, and i have to make my message out clear. thats my business, and you are jumping to conclusions wihtout thinking.

u seemed to be challenged in distinguishing between the bribes revolving this issue, and the corporate ones( which i don't care about). in fact this isn't just about bribe.

if you can't, don't even bother posting to my threads in the future that hold political tone. that way we can all be happy.

MODERATOR PLZ LOCK THIS THREAD.
