I got mine at napa autoparts I think.
What is the reason you guys use the tall filters?

Napa is the place. It does not say Denso on the box though. It says ULTRA-8. Part no. 361 2905. Open the box and theres a Denso filter in there.

I believe the general philosophy is more filter medium area is superior.

Taller filter = more surface area of filter medium. Also, people have taken apart the filters and analyzed how they are built, some filters were better made. Things like better drainback valves, metal endcaps instead of cardboard, etc. Not ALL tall filters are better, just the higher quality ones. From these, it appears that Denso and NAPA are the most widely recommended.

That's it.
This did not pan out. They contacted me later to say they would have to be ordered and were 90 days out. I cancelled my order.
