OK I know this is a sports car and cruiser and great track car. Not a great 1/4 mile car for obvious reason. OK.
Today my wife and I took the just aquired 92 NSX out for the old sunday drive. WE were merging onto the bypass that is 3 lanes.I was going about 60-65.Im my mirror I see a couple motorcycles coming up fast. They were 2 Harley Davidsons. Well as the merge turned into bypass the bikes came along side. They both gunned their bikes and laughed and speeded up.I ride bikes and know the factory stock HD cruiser will top out about 105-110 on a good day. But I also know 60-75% of Hds are modified to run faster.OK back to the story. As the bikes took off I kinda eased the gas down and pulled along side them. I knew if they had modfied bikes they would not let off. Sure enough one of them down shifted and took off. WE were at about 70 by this time.I have street raced a lot in my years and I just had a hard time letting this guy go.Most Harley riders HATE anything made in Japan. Anyhow I was already in 5th gear so I floored it. The bike fell back to my back bumper and stayed there until about 110 or so which confirmed what I already suspected. He had a lot of work done on the bike.At 140 I let off and he was back about a 100 yards or so behind me.A couple miles later they both pulled beside the nsx and gave a thumbs up. Im sure now those guys REALLY hate cars made in Japan. Im aware that Harleys are not that fast. But the modified ones can be made to run well. I was surprised My NSX beat the bike.Maybe my car runs better than I thought.lol Anyhow not something I would ever do on a regular basis. But at least I won.:)

Did a flame suit come with your recently acquired NSX? Hope so. You'll see why.

Harley guys can be REAL @ssholes sometimes. My last encounter involved two Harley guys, one just stayed back and stayed out of it, but I went around to pass them in the middle lane because they were hovering in the passing lane (3 lanes wide) and the one jerk sped up to keep me from passing in my pickup. I won't mention what I did next because it's really bad but that thing was a gutless turd and I weighed well several thousand pounds more. Anyhow, no one got in trouble, he just got a little butt hurt and lost some pride lol. Then he got pissed at his buddy because his fellow harley rider on the other bike stayed WAY out of it.

YO, easy on the guy, by the second ticket he'll learn ...

Good for you. Idiot.[/quote

Idiot? There where no other cars around.Wide open area. So you have never drove your Nsx over 55?? You seem to have a lot of opinions on here. And you seem to know a lot(YOU THINK).lol So you think the term idiot was needed? It seems your education you got at Ohio State in not much better than the football team there.:) Think I know your type:)

Idiot is appropriate if not a little bit light.

I could care less if you go and kill yourself. Heck kill the Harley riders while you are at it.

Its the innocent bystander casualties that bother me.

Opinionated, yes. Newbie, no.

you were going 140 on a public highway on a newly acquired car you havent spent that much time with yet...and for what? to race cruisers? icing is that your wife was in the car with you. atleast "you won"? i would be ashamed brother...

This seems to happen everytime someone posts about something stupid they did. You have an out pouring of people lambasting them and even showing there own intelligence level by name calling.
If even ONE of you high and mightys can say that you have NEVER exceeded the speed limit or raced on a public road or did a burnout or squeeled a tire etc, then ill take it all back but frankly i think youre all full of crap. Oh im sure all the critics here bought an Nsx because of its fuel mileage and trunk space.

Double standards ... people love to Throw the First Stone into others ...

So typical on the "INTERNET" ....

YES, Racing / Speeding in public roads IS WRONG, guidance is needed not judgment nor name calling ....

Oscar

IBTL!

EVERY Harley I have ever seen has been in front of me going insanely slow (usually in a large pack). At least you weren't stuck behind them.

I understand how excited you are to have a new car. Obviously the Harley riders thought the NSX was cool enough to "show off". However, they never feel that way about mine because the go so slow.

BTW - enjoy the heat from the ensuing flames! They will be lame and predictable, but scathing nonetheless.

oh no, you have mentioned about racing on the public streets!!! the anti street racing nazi's are going to get you!! beware~~~. anyone whos been here long enough to know that it is a big no no, and that it gets a bunch of peoples panties in a tight bunch. you should just keep it to yourself, because there are a few nsx's that do race and even have youtube videos to prove it, but they will never post about it because this will happen every time. you should just keep all the stories to yourself to save yourself some stress to prove your point of view because they will never listen. if you search on this forum about nsx vs ......, the results will be very few.

I've never considered myself "high nor mighty" but I have NEVER raced on a public road or did a burnout or squealed a tire on my either of my NSX's or any other cars for that matter. I did get a speeding ticket when I was 16 years old. I was going 135 in a 35 zone. Took my license for six months. Learned my lesson many, many years ago about how stupid that was.

Do I race? You bet ya. I started when I was around 12 in 1/4 midget cars and then went on to karts, etc., etc. One of my favorite photos of my NSX is at Willow Springs on Porsche Day and seeing all of those Porches WAY back behind me as I was going into a left hand turn...

Now here and again, I am not trying to be "high or mighty", but some of the things that did make me feel more comfortable on a track versus "performance driving" on the street were:

1. I knew my car was prepared and ready to drive on a track,
2. My car was inspected by professionals prior to allowing my car to be on the track,
3. The same was true for the other individuals that would be on the track with me,
4. I knew exactly where I would be driving and wouldn't be surprised by different routes, signs, signals, or road conditions.
5. So did my competitors,
6. There were rules and observers that enforced the rules and also informed me of impending conditions,
7. I wore had the proper safety equipment and outfits, as did my competitors,
8. My competitors and I had gone through the same safety and driving exercises prior to racing,
9. Oh this can go on and on can't it...

Well, I don't have kids and I am not married, but I can appreciate how some of these guys that do would be upset if drivers were speeding up and down their streets.

Now I would be even more concerned if my wife and kids were in the mini-van going to the mall, and people were speeding/racing on public roads. (keep in mind, I don't have kids or a wife.)

Now you're going to say the odds of this are extremely small. I agree with you without exception. What are the odds that the guy on the Harley would blow a front tire, crash into the NSX driver and get killed. Then the NSX driver would be charged with "demonstration of performance driving," "manslaughter" etc, and spend 15 years in prison. Or the NSX guy would hit a road malfunction, etc, etc. Or another vehicle pulled out in front of them... I agree, the odds are EXTREMELY small.

Oh, did I tell you about when I was driving down the street around 40 miles per hour approximately half a mile from my house. Lady didn't see me, turned into her driveway and I T-Boned her. I broke my neck in two places, broke all of my ribs, had numerous facial contusions, etc. In and out to the hospital for months, numerous surgeries, etc.

It's all a fluke isn't it. Thanks for putting those high and mighty bastards in their places.

P.S. I've looked at your 135 posts and your lack of identification in terms of who you are or where you're located. Do you even have a NSX? If so, what's your VIN?

well Dtrigg does have a point, i do prefer drag racing at the track, and i love go karting. going to jail is not fun at all and i would never ever do anything that would land me in jail. lets just say that that i learned my lesson for a different reason about driving. i now respect the driving road and conditions on public roads a lot more now because i do not want to get into trouble anymore. i almost lost everything when i got caught, but i am also still considered to be very lucky to be a live and that i did not kill anyone. right now i have no license and its been over a month since i drove my car and i have been taking public transportation to work. but that is my lession that i learned and i will never preach to anyone. i always say "to each his own" i was one of those "it will never happen to me" guys until i got caught. now i learned my lesson and will never ever want to be in that situation ever again.

Hey, not all harley riders are bad. As with most riders, it's safety in packs. There are just a few bad apples and sometimes they all tend to stink the same when they're together because of the safety in numbers mentality taken the opposite way.

You serious Doug? You never burned out in the nsx? That's crazy since you live in the middle of SF. I was in SF on Saturday and I pretty much left tire smoke at every single steep hill I had to stop on because it's near impossible to slip my clutch without excessive wear and tear. I couldn't help it though lol.

Yes I am new to this forum. But while your were sucking on a bottle in the crib I was out driving fast cars at the track and on the street.Ohio you seem to think that since you have been on this forum longer than a lot of folks maybe you have some sort of power.Maybe you have spent too much time on this forum and should have been out driving your car. Save your rash comments for someone else.

Dtrigg,I have been around cars my entire life. I have checked this car over from bumper to bumper. The car is safe to drive anyway one wants to drive it. Yes im still learning about the operation and maint. of the NSX I can tell a safe car when I see one. I do understand where you coming from though.
And Mugen IM NOT ashamed of anything IM proud I beat the bike and IM proud I still have the balls to go 140 plus.I did not buy this car to just look at and tell people I have one like some have. Thanks for everyones opinion.I was warned that there were SOME up tight people on this forum.Guess My post got them out early.lol

Sounds like you are the one still sucking on that bottle. But hey, I don't care if you street race as long as it's not on the roads I frequent. So go ahead, race all you want and have fun.

Why, when you are so deserving?

Totally agreed I don't drive my car enough.
