With out a bid in place for 2013 yet, I am interested in gauging if there is any regional interest in assisting to put together an event based out of Palm Springs, CA with Chuckwalla Valley Raceway serving as the track in early October 2013.

I believe this location is ideal for a number of reasons. Palm Springs is a destination city with amenities for both NSX drivers and significant others. It is reasonable in price for accommodations, near a large contingency of NSX owners, and within a reasonable drive from a newly built world class track.

I would be looking for 2-3 responsible volunteers willing to dedicate 2-4 hours of time per month for the next several months to plan and organize. Ideally, you will have had some experience with event planning and organization in the past, including experience with how hotel blocks & negotiations work.

If you are interested, please drop me an e-mail to [email protected]. My goal is to determine by the end of November if there is enough interest, and by end of December if the proposal makes fiscal sense.

take care,
-- Chris

best of luck and thankyou for the effort!

With pleasure my friend.
But Trabuco Canyon and Palm Springs are quite a distance apart.

Sounds good to me. Chuckwalla is in the middle of nowhere but it's a nice track. World Class??

Palm Springs is a great little city and close to all the LA and SD folks and not a bad drive from Phoenix, Las Vegas and Nor Cal.

I'm still with the group that it should be Las Vegas every year.

I'm with you on that too

Having this announcement in the "So-Cal" or that area mentioned above is very exciting:biggrin:

That "bubble is about to be burst" is the news that SoCal will not be awarded the location.

Sad. You would think having SoS on the case would make a fairly strong argument in favor, but what do I know.

I hope it's not too far away, I'd love to drive out.

Nsxpo 2013

When I was at NSXPO 2012 there was a lot of talk about Austin and the new track

Just caught wind that this track has been offered out for rent at 50k a day.

Sooooooooooo, unless that changes having a event at Austin is a pipe dream.

But boy oh boy, that course does look phenomenal though.

NSXPO 2013 where? NSXPO 2014 is Ohio/Marysville?

About $500/NSX if ~100 NSX-owners committed (very feasible # of NSX'ers being NSXPO + F1 track + central location). Generally speaking, an HPDE event is ~$400 as-is at other venues. I'm confident the track/facilities cost can be negotiated, depending on wants/needs. Details here.

Perhaps the cost for the Circuit of the Americas could be further subsidized by involving "invite-only" of another club or two (an entire day of tracking is a bit much for all; club-A in morning, club-B in afternoon, club-C in evening). Or a parade-lap & on-site event/tour, and actual track-event at nearby Harris Hill Road could be a viable option.

Lotsa hard work needs to be put into preparing a bid for NSXPO, and then the actual execution. Perhaps in the future, worth the effort...

Sounds great in theory. Most $400 HPDE weekends are for 2-day events as well. So even if you can get 100 drivers (has NSXPO even pulled this in recent years?) willing to pay $500 for one day, what percentage will need instructors? Add those willing souls ready to sit passenger and add them into the run group math. Unless you want to convince them to pay

Not trying to be the debbie downer, but that's a mighty tall order to fill when there are other awesome courses that can be rented for 1/4th of the price and still struggle to meet registration numbers.

Fortunately, NSXCA has an awesome format where you can pitch this idea for a possible expo. Can't ever hurt to give it a shot.

Lotsa hard work needs to be put into preparing a bid for NSXPO
Tell me about it!

not that difficult to get the track...

Then stop it! :D

In all seriousness, it can/will happen. Just like a good many here said today's F1 race would never happen, were privy to rumour, media, and innuendo. An NSXPO in Austin w/ some involvement at the Circuit of the Americas is possible, and not at the "$50k" price-tag (which is an all-together different monster, think of that package as corporate team-building event not actual car-club track-day). Personally speaking, I/myself don't have the desire nor inclination to make it happen as of now as it's an incredibly thankless endeavor & I give my utmost respect to those who have taken responsibility for past NSXPOs.

Tho' I will fwd my personal contacts for the track, local automotive/motorsport entrepreneurs, vendors/sponsors/dealers, accommodations, food/beverage, entertainment, etc) to those who wish to look into an NSXPO bid in the future. Again, it shall happen- just a matter of when.
