hi,
i was trying to get my 95 supercharged nsx smogged this past week.
the smog tech couldnt get the car to co operate.

when he was doing the 15mph test, the car wouldnt stay at a steady rpm for long enough to test, kicking him out of the test.

i took it to the same guy as i did 2 years ago for my last smog and it passed with ease.

he said theres a slight stutter causing the vehicles rpm to change.
any ideas??
anyone else have this problem??

no cel's. car normally has test pipes on it, but stock cats are reinstalled for smog checks every 2 years

Exactly - it happened to one of my delivery trucks. I only drive it once a week in the city only. The tech told me to take it on freeway, go for 15 to 20 miles, and come back. It passed the retest.

Hm. Cuz the car was sitting for a while. I drove the car about. 50 miles before the smog test on the freeway and had it tested n it failed.

Thinking I'm gonna change out the spark plugs before I retest since I can install them myself

My solution, for any smog:

-Fresh Chevron 91 gas
-Oil/spark plug change
-Check air filter
-Drive car on freeway for 20 to 30 miles at a constant speed
-When pulling up to smog station, DON'T turn car off, leave car at idle until tech is ready

Hope this help...

You mention 15 mph test. Assuming this is done with rear wheels on rollers, you have the TCS off, right?

Yeah tcs was off. And he told me that it passes as far as emmisions go. But it keeps aborting the test cuz of the little hesitation and it drops Rpms then picks back up.

But with it not being constant it aborts the test
