Size tires for new wheels?

I will be purchasing my first NSX and this one has a Comptech widebody kit and the owner has new wheels but not the tires for it. The new setup will be 18x8 for the fronts and 19x10.5 for the rears.
What size tires and brand should I get to fit on these?

I'd use 215/35R18 fronts and 285/30R19 rears. Brandwise maybe Goodyear F1 GSD3 or Michelin PS2.

Will these sizes give a stretched look on the rims? I am looking for a sized tire that will give me a flushed look with the rims.

Whats the point of a wide body kit just to run such skinny little rubber upfront? A little S2000 can run 245 upfront on a stock body car. I see no point in paying for a widebody car just to run such un-aggressive rubber.

I was also thinking of using 245/35/18 for the fronts and 305/30/19 for the rears. Is this too wide for my wheel sizes (18x8, 19x10.5)?

These sizes are for Stock bodied cars. Comptech Widebody will/can use other larger sizes, though I can't tell you what they would be.

235 front and 315 rear is really good if you want sidewall "ball out"
it gives that "muffin tops" effect. you know fat chicks with tight pants with rolls of dough hanging over their belt.
it will rub and destroy your very very veryyyyyy expensive aluminum fenders.
it happened before. learn from mistakes.

go with 215/30/18 fror 18x8 front and 285/35/19 rear if you want to look perfect.

whatever you do, don't get falken tires in any case for these sizes because it will look stretched.

I had use those sizes I mentioned on my previous Sorcery widebody kit. Looks okay to me. I also wanted to avoid TCS problem.

Please note he does have a WideBody. And I have had those wheels on my car WO the widebody, and barely had rubbing. It will fill those fenders well, and like said will have a slight muffin top look as noted on your wheel sizes. However, compared to Porsche and factory spec wheels, the 315s were used on 19x11s instead of 10.5s. 235s are actually pretty well spec'd at 18x8.

PS I have a 97 with no TCS issues, and had the 235/315 setup as well as my current 215/35/18, 295/30/19.

Don't forget that going from 215 to even 225 on the front will affect steering feel and car's handling a lot. I would never go wider then 215. Telling from personal negative experience with 225 size

Cheers

With the Widebody, the lower offset is already going to do that. There is alot more to the car's steering then just tire size. Tire Size, type, wheel width, offset, WEIGHT of the combo... they all play a major role.

Seeing as he has Widebody and the wheels fixed, the only alternative is the tire. Thats why I said a 235/30/18. If SurfsUP was anywhere close to me, I'd let him mount mine on. Along with the 315s in the rear. With my NSX-R Chassis Stabilizer it makes a positive impression versus a negative.

PS Another question not asked is what year is this car? 91-93 versus 94+ will make a difference WRT TCS.

Thanks guys for all your help.

As for the year its a 91. Is there a difference in 91-93 to the 94+ NSX?

I just got the wheels the other day and the NSX is at the shop having new StopTech 14" BBK and Bilstein shocks put on. I am hoping the Bilsteins will lower the car about 1".

I spoke to someone I know at Bridgstone and I think I will get with 225/35/18 for the fronts and as for the rear 305/30/19. 305 was the largest he makes for 19" in the RE050A. They don't make the RE050A in 235 or 245 for the 18".

Here are some pics of my new wheels, Volk SF Challenge:

It does make a difference in what year NSX you have. 91s had a 15/16 setup. Their front tires were 205/50/15 and 225/50/16 rears. You'll notice that the % difference is about 7.75%. You want to maintain as close as possible to that ration.

a 225/35/18 Front, and 305/30/19 rear will help you stay close by being at 8.28% Thats pretty close. I would say your selection is about spot on.

Please note, do avoid the Porsche Specific N0 rears as they will have horrible balance in comparison with the non Porsche Specific Fronts.
