Signal light automatic return not working

Do you always have to cancel it or just some times? If it's just sometimes, do a search of the forums ... I know I've seen step by step instructions on how to open up the little control box on the steering column and clean it out. I think it sometimes gets grease in the wrong places.

Mine did that too. You have to take it apart and clean the contact points. It takes about 30 minutes or so. There are instructions on here somewhere.

hummm.. I don't know about 30 min. It is very difficult to remove all those plastic parts to get to the module. I did it half way and decided not to continue because I didn't want to break any of those 'old' plastic parts that would end up costing a lot of money to replace. :(

I have done it twice. The first time took me longer as I had no idea what I was doing. The second time about 30 minutes. Some of the peices are a little tricky to get out, but I don't think you are in a lot of danger of breaking them. Just be careful and take your time.

Or, pay $400 for a new part and then an hour labor.

You're probably right about not knowing what to expect. I took the bottom parts out, but just couldn't remove the steer column piece. I think I took off all the screws and kept on pulling hard, but it just wouldn't come off. So I just stopped before I break something.

remove the column covers, remove the signal control box then remove the screws from the small part of the control assembly. Then you will see 4 contacts and contact points. clean the grease from these then bend the 4 contacts to increase the tension to make a better contact. use a small amount of dielectric grease on the contact points and reassemble.
