Should the ABS work if the TCS is removed?

I've never used the ABS, never felt it activated. I tried to "exercise" it by driving on a road with some gravel on one side and braking hard. I could not get the ABS to activate.
My TCS system has been removed.

I think your question was meant to be:
"Should the ABS work if the TCS has been disconnected?"
I believe the answer is yes, but I have never tried it and this car continues to teach me new things. Sounds like the previous poster has experience so I'd go with his avice. Happy Motoring!

I remember I once took an NSX for a test drive; not mine, but one that someone was selling and that I was checking out for someone else. I slammed on the brakes. No vibration. I went a little faster and slammed on the brakes a little harder. Still no vibration. It was only when I went even faster and slammed on the brakes even harder and more suddenly that I was finally able to get the wheels to lock up and the ABS kicked in. I concluded that it's really really hard to get the ABS to activate on dry pavement.

Try it when it's wet out...

Thanks everyone for your input.
The TCS box was actually removed from my car by Factor X when they built my motor and installed the turbos years ago.
I was driving about 20 MPH yesterday when trying to get the ABS to activate. The tires would skid but no signs of ABS kicking in. The ABS in my 2008 TL kicks in very easily... no skidding needed.

I guess I will try to exercise the ABS with more speed on wet pavement when I can do so safely.

If your tires are skidding/locking then your ABS is not working. Check to see if the orange connector under the brake master cylinder is plugged together.

I checked a the ABS plug under the master cylinder and it was connected. I then removed and replaced all 5 of the orange electrical connectors around the ABS unit. All looked clean with no corrosion. I started the car and the ABS pump ran for about 10 seconds. I drove the car at 20 MPH on a road with gravel on the right side and braked hard enough to lock up the tires for a skid of 2 feet. I repeated this skid 3 times. The ABS never activated.

I would like to know what is the reason for the ABS not activating. I can't got to the only Acura dealer in Honolulu because they refused to work on my NSX because it has modifications.

Does anyone have any ideas why the ABS isn't activating?

When I bought my car I noticed that 1 (and only 1) of the ABS sensors at the wheels had been replaced. I wondered how anyone determined 1 sensor was bad. Maybe 1 sensor affects the entire system? Maybe the previous owner disconnected the sensors at the wheels along with the TCS? I wish I knew more about the ABS and TCS systems, but that is one reason I bought this car - to learn and work on a truely well engineered and well crafted car. Good Luck and Happy Motoring!

Update..... After checking and reconnecting my 5 ABS connectors I found a patch of gravel on the side of a street. Driving 20 MPH I was able to lock up the right side on the gravel for a distance of 2-3 feet. When I reversed and ran the left side over the gravel, it seemed to have a little hesitation before locking up. The ABS pump now seems to activate almost every time I start up the car. It didn't do that before.

Do you think I need to keep "exercising" the brakes?
Does it sound like bad wheel sensors?
Does it sound like bad ABS unit?
