I had a 91 for almost 5 years and never recall having a problem upshifting or downshifting. I recently acquired a 01 with a six speed. Allowing time to get use to the car again, I still find that if I am in say 3 rd and stay for awhile before upshifting to 4th, and/or in 4th and after awhile try to downshift to 3rd that the transition is not that sure. For instance several times I have downshifted when I really intended to upshift. If I take off from a stop and go through all the gears there seems not to be a problem. It is just when in gear like 3rd or 4th or 5th and I downshift, I am not certain of getting the gear I want. Do any of you experience this. It almost feels like the trans wants to go into a particular gear whether or not you want that one.

You'll get used to it, trust me.

This gearbox is one of the finest ever made.

I had the same problem when I went from my five speed to my six speed. It's just an adjustment process.

Enjoy your new car.

I think you'll get used to it. One problem I had was that I used to drive a 6-Speed Legend Coupe for years, then when I got the 5-Speed NSX, I always wanted to shift into 6th gear. This took me a while to not feel the urge to shift after 5th, especially since I have the NSX-R gears with 4.23. It took me about 2 weeks of constant driving to get used to the new transmission.

I had the same EXACT difficulties in making the transition from my old 5-Spd trans to my new 6-Spd trans...for about 1 week. Then it became 2nd nature.
