Well, I took the Taitec off last night. Now the GF will be happier :(

It is amazing what a difference it makes. I drove to work today and the car sounded so .... normal. I found myself turning the radio off just to see if I could hear the car! No luck. I am convinced now that the stock exhaust is just too tame for an exotic car.

I already miss the growl that taitec makes..

Oh, well.... I will try again soon.

Does the word Whipped mean anything to you LOL. I know what you mean, I just went with the Comptech H/E and my wife also complains, ........... not enough to go back to stock though, I just tell her to turn up the music or follow me in her car........... which mught be louder than riding with me...:D

Its Better to let her drive ahead so you can play catch up....besides the exhaust always sounds louder from the back...i didnt realize how loud my exhaust was till i was following two other nsx's with the same exhaust.....TUBI ROCKS

just a thought.. are there any quiet exhausts out there that are good for performance????

i know it's contradictory but there's gotta be a balance somewhere...

don't sell it yet. I heard that once you go Taitec you never go back! :D I know I could not go without mine.

ps- I'm sure your lady is waaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler than an exhaust

Don't delete anything!

My girlfriend and I were ROTFLOL! I have a custom Supertrap that might as well contain a megaphone at both tips! I get the Taitec headers and strait pipes on ~next week. I should mail your girlfriend a sound bite. Maybe she will then let you play with the rest of the boys once she realizes you are doing better than the rest of us noise freaks!:D

I can see it now, "but honey, his is louder than mine. :( I wanna play like the other kids! Why must I always be good?"

"Now dear, if your friends told you to drive your NSX off of a cliff, would you do it?"

"Hmmmm.... is it a cliff or a ramp?"

LOL!:D

i believe you can buy silencers with the taitecs..i've heard they're hard to find. anyone used silencers before on their taitecs?

go to team spugen and check out their new exhausts with and without the silencers.

Hey guys, we install after market exhausts mostly for the sound and looks and not so much for performance. We want to sound faster, but were really not going much faster. This car shouldn't have to sound like a sewing machine, it needs sound! Also sorry if my earlier reply was a little harsh, I deleted it myself.

My thought on the silencer is that if I always have it in, I would rather just get an exhaust that isnt as loud and be able to hear it all the time..

Plus, I would have to drill holes in this one.. and I would rather just sell it...

I don't think NetViper would like the Anytime exhaust. It sounds really loud compared to the Taitec.

NetViper is refering to the in cabin loudness and resonance, not outside the car loudness. The Anytime Exhaust is at the legal limit and has no in cabin resonance. You'd be suprised at how quite it is inside the car with the exhaust on. You get the best of both worlds; Quite inside and a loudness outside. I previously had the RM Oval tip exhaust and couldn't stand the droning at 2200 to 2700 rpms. I would either shift up or down to get it out of that particular rpm range.

Sorry, John.

I forgot to mention that the most recent Anytime exhaust I listened to was Mike's (supergreen125). I believe he has straight pipes on. So that's not fair.

I do remember hearing yours at the NSX Prime Canyon Drive. It was still loud outside but I'm sure it won't be as loud inside. I also recall someone who sat in your car (to rev' it up) and commented that it was suprisingly nice and quiet inside the car.

Yes, Mikes car was extremely loud with out the cats on. If anyone is interested, I can take them for a ride in my car at the next CalCoastalNSX meeting in Santa Monica on Aug. 21st.
Take care,
John

they're removable so perhaps you could keep them in on the streets and take them off on the track or whenever.

or if you get a fixed ticket, just put them in have the chp sign you off.

i was once caught and given a fixed ticket for my HKS exhaust. the motorcycle cop pulled out his decimeter and measured me at 96dB.....whoopie!! i've read that <= 95dB was legal and i was one off...he gave me a fixed ticket. he gave me tons of lecture on how high my license plate must be off the ground and where i couldn't have my fog lights...i had two pairs of fog lights at the time.

i brought my car into a muffler shop and had them install a silencer. i brought my car back next time and a nice asian cop signed me off without even checking twice that i had done the mod....

therefore, based on my experience, i say the silencer is a very useful device in this manner.....

sound clip

anyone have a sound clip of the taitec gt???

Just gonna compare against the anytime...

thanks,
-x-

I was wondering what distance the dB is measured at?
Also, is there a particular direction is it measured from (i.e. from side, behind, under)?
