Sesquential shifter for NSX

Mark Johnson was working on his own version.

I have looked at it several times, but many groups do not allow them in competition, so it becomes too much money for a track toy. Now if they decide to sell the demo, look me up.

I notice the shifter in the vid is for a 5-speed. Do you know if they make one for the 6-speed? I don't do competition driving; therefore that is a moot issue for me.

I wish I wasn't so vain as this is cool but definately fugly-syborg looking IMO.

Also - what happens when you want to jump down 2 gears? Might be slower for some of us at some tracks IMO.

imo that is not a sequential shifter just a shift modifier. As stated you still need the clutch, all it does is remove the normal detants from the shift pattern, most folks would probably get lost.

Sequential shifting for 996

Was reading about the latest Porcshe 996 mod for sequential shifting, cable actuated like an NSX. Makes me think... Here is the link

Excellence gave it a good review in February. Still damn expensive but it sure looks cool. I wouldn't mind trying one if they ever come down in price.

Mr Severich whose team prepared the NSX-R for the 24 h race last year at Nurburgring was thinking about the cartronic thing to build in the car. Reason: The car is RHD and he wanted to reduce pilot errors with shifting because they were all used to shift with the right hand. He thought a sequential shifter would compensate that.

I talked him out of that because every part you add can break during a long race, especialy if it's not a Honda part. And it's adding weight. I suggested that the drivers should make some extra training instead. He followed my proposal and it worked. They had some problems during the race but none of them was shifting or tranny related.
