Sequential options

Hi all,

So things are progressing nicely with my clubday trackcar project, but one thing occured to me as I was investigating gearing and that is sequential gearbox options.

I am looking at a Holinger 6 speed for my road going GTR and would like to get something similar to suit the NSX.

Are there any preferred options in this situation ?

Sorry just edited post to give more info.

Car is a 1991 NA1 JDM spec car.

Had a chat to one of the engineers at Hewland about a sequential solution and they have one, but my god it's not cheap !

$ 40,000 USD for their SL box ......... I suppose considering that it's the bee's knees and the same unit used in th JGTC cars I suppose that's not bad, but I think for a club level car I've got other area's that I can spent that cash on.

Does anyone know of anything more "entry level" ??

Don't the current JGTC NSXs have a longitudinally mounted drivetrains?

That's pretty similar pricing to X-trac which are also 30-40K. Their really isn't any 'entry level' options for the NSX. Put a good LSD in there and have fun.

It sounds like all you need is the JGTC Budget to go with the JGTC transaxle

Not really, no. While their have been offerings from Quafie and others that can probably be adapted with a custom bell housing and are relatively less (still about the price of a nice car), frankly they all just really expensive projects and not generally cost effective.

Generally, the rule is that the more power you are making, the more it is going to cost. I don't know if you have any sports racer experience, but the maintenance costs on them is relatively high as well.

Thanks for the comments guys, as always very useful to point this NSX newbie in the right direction :)

As you mentioned it, recommendations for LSD's ?

Club level racing at this point, no endurance events until much later on.
OS Giken would probably be the best either in 4.06 (stock) or 4.44 (short) final drive. If you are staying NA the 4.44 would probably be better.

While you are at it you should throw the JDM gear set (different 2, 3, 4th gears) in there as well -to better keep the car in the powerband.

Email me at [email protected] for a quote on either the gears or LSD.

Thanks Billy,

Plans are to go supercharged at a later date so I'll stick with the stock I think.

I should have JDM gears in it already as I'm based in New Zealand so we only get JDM cars here.

Thanks again for all of the help. I will be in touch with you again no doubt as I will need to purchase other items which most of the time is easier / cheaper from the states anyhow.
