hi guys

my seibon carbon hood finally arrived last and it is just a superb hood superb quality ! :D

now, im in two minds whether to paint or not to paint the bonnet

i was gonna get it painted leaving just the vented area unpainted in original carbon finish like this picture :

this is what it looks like at the moment :

please help me decide guys..

Paint with a dark tint so it looks black and still be able to see the weave up close.

i was gonna paint it the same dark green as my original color so it blends nicely with the rest ?

Sorry, thought your car was black. Boy I need to get a new monitor for my "NSXPRIME" computer at work. Paint it to match the color of your car.

I totally agree with this. Since it's dark color you can get away with that. It will take a good painter though to tint it properly. If you decide to paint it then at least tint the vent part. I've yet to see a tinted carbon hood on an NSX.

Paint it to match your car but leave the inside line of the reverse scoop exposed carbon. That's what I am doing when mine comes in.

I don't care for the exposed carbon look, so I say paint the whole thing. You've got the best color NSX already, make the hood match!

Leaving the inside lip exposed is a nice touch

That's is very nice, but i think a 'trick' like this will only give maximum impact with bright color vehicle - so it will look contrasting like the above

You should get it wrapped to your liking, and in the event you do not like it; you can always remove the wrap

i would wrap it if i could get the same green color wrapping as my original color

Keep at least some of the weave exposed. See how they did my wife's car with the carbon hood and deck. The center trunk and the fangs of the hood are clear coated with the weave exposed. photo 1.jpgphoto 2.jpgphoto 3.jpg

If your plan is to end up leaving it all exposed, you really should have the hood clear coated, otherwise it will yellow within a year in the sun. The gelcoat used is just not good enough for long term exposure.

Funny, that pic is not bad off and she's a red head at that!!!!

I do get to drive it at times....the car that is. It was her 40th B'day present. I'm not gonna lie and say it wasn't a little bit for me!!! Shhhhh...don't tell her!!! A few weeks ago she drove up and I was pulling out of the driveway and she said...."where are you going in my car?" So I get flack sometimes when I take it for a spin.

But the guy who did the carbon hood and trunk did a great design keeping some of the carbon weave exposed. I was just giving some ideas.
