I'm getting a nasty sounding scrapy metalic sound somewhat randomly when I start the car. Someone told me they thought it sounded like my fan was hitting my radiator, but I don't think that is the issue.
Its not every time I start it and it only lasts about 30 sec-3 minutes when it does happen. It seems like its never enough to get out and figure where it comes from. Its not consistant enough to have it happen when I take it to the shop either.
Seems like it's mostly when the car is started after its been sitting overnight or once when it was parked for several hours. I don't have any indicator lights that show issues on my dash. I do however remember having this same sound shortly after I purchased the car and the ABS light would come on after the noise stopped.
This issue went away after my 90k service. However, it seems to have come back now about 2 months later. The first recurrence I had was at the autocross in Hollywood park after runny pretty hard all day.
Anyone have any Ideas what might be causing this?
