Running of the Bulls

evoking, was that you that pulled in as we were leaving? really sorry to hear you drove all the way up from MD and didn't make it in time, hopefully you found something else fun to do (like the nearby casinos? :)).

Yea that was me. We enjoyed the trip as we just moved here from Dallas and wanted to see the landscape. We made a day of NY plus I've never put her on the road so it was overdue. David took me out on the course in the WRX STI and we talked a lot about handling as I have an EVO. All in all we had a good trip.

I have a new found respect for the STi, it was a blast around the course (the British [or Australian?] guy was driving, I don't recall his name). They love that car there and say it kills the Evo which I found interesting.

Hi Rob,

He was British; really cool guy... Of the three cars I hot lapped around the track in (M3, WRX STi, and Porsche Boxter - didn't care to ride in that GTO that was about ready to overheat), the STi was awesome over the others hands down. Even the Consumer guys felt the same. The only reason I rode in the Boxter was for the free in-car camera VHS tape!:D I viewed it and was great!!! With all the G-forces, they were yapping (yelling) away explaining how well the car was handling, even as the car drifted!

Unlike the last Bulls run that I didn't attend (with hardly any food and lots of tickets), this event was well-worth it! Food and drinks were plenty (even desserts!), and the Consumer Reports crew were very friendly. Not to mention all of the free magazines. THEY (drivers) were the ones who DIDN'T want to stop hot lapping! As my head spun, I was like "ok, that was awesome! Thanks for the ride fellas!!!" They were like, "c'mon, let's go for another lap!!!" Oh noooo...

Well, Bailey, you finally found a way to beat me in the great photo post race.

How was the turnout?

Turn out was good ... four nsx's there and two of whom I knew.
I didnt take too many pictures because I was distracted by the events. The price of entry for this event was worth it ...lots of fun.
Im Sorry to hear about your car Bob I hope you will get it back soon. Cant wait to see you all again at the next event which will probably be the poker rally.By the way do we have a date yet for this ?

Great pictures Bailey. Happy to hear that Bull Run #2 was actually worth the money. Looks like all who went had a great time.

Robr,

I asked the driver the same question about which he liked better the EVO or STI and he said the STI was more docile and easier to drive at the limits. However the EVO posts better lap times in every test the two compete in. He finally agreed that the STI is easier to drive hard whereas the EVO can also sling its tail out which is one of the many reasons I bought the EVO as my daily toy over the STI. And nothing steers like this EVO. Not even cars like S2k, NSX, M coupe, Z06, 993, Viper, 968, all of which I've owned. If you haven't driven one go do it.

All of that being said I really like the STI and it took a long time for me to make the decision.

Bailey-

What was up with the cops?? Did they just stop for a look see?

My close friend was there with the silver 360 (he used to have 01 NSX coupe) - pictured in Bailey's album, and had an unfortuante incident with Eagle Talon.

Luckily, the damage was not too bad, but what a way to start the journey with his newly acquired 360.

Anyone have a photo of the damaged 360 and/or the Diamond star car? I looked through Ferrari chat, but I have to create an account to view photos. No way, if you did what I do for a living you would understand that if I have to create one more user name and password I think I'm gonna throw myself into traffic :D:D

Bob, can you post the details of Kids Day

No poker rally this year unfortunately. But you should come up to the Glen for Kids Day in July.

I hope to make it this year (lot's of things planned in July) so could you post either the details, or the link again for all of us. Will you be doing kid's day in the NSX, or the E55 this year?:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Kids day is Thursday July 22nd. Some of us are going up Wednesday or earlier.

I can't speak for Bob, however, I'll put money on his car being all shined up and ready to go for Kid's Day:D:D

Never fear boys and girls, my NSX should be up and running shortly thanks to the wizardry of Joe Lomoriello (Pbassjo) and the magicians employed by him at Vince's Auto Body in Poughkeepsie, NY.

I wil set up a separate thread for Kids Day.

I met him first thing in the morning and told me he knew you and that he was a previous nsx owner.....really nice guy. His car was awesome in silver....the details of the accident are still sketchy but from what I understand traffic came to a sudden slow down and the talon driver did not anticipate this and lost control and went into a spin and hit your friends car. We all stopped at the rest area to check out the damage and soon after the cops came.
