Review – NSX-R Short Shifter

do you guys recommend a short shift stalk with the daves short shift kit? could one just use the short shift kit and a counter sunk knob and get the same results?

I use all 3.

The short answer - yes... and maybe.

1) Dave's kit will shorten the throw.
2) Lowering the knob will shorten the throw. Lowering the knob by "countersinking" it might be tricky.
3) Doing both REALLY shortens the throw.

That probably doesn't help much... does it?

On keeping the shift boot from slipping down, should it sit between the nut and tighten the knob over it so the boot is sandwiched between the two?

With the NSX-R shift boot or oem?

With the NSX-R I jus the tightened the zip tie as much as possible to keep it from slipping down.

The NSX-R shift knob should be installed with a special nut (one with a collar - see photo). The nut goes on under the boot material (flared-side-down) and holds up the material against the base of the knob. A little finesse is required in tightening the two parts.

Can anyone provide more details on the "finesse" part? Do you hand tighten this nut or use a wrench? Does someone need to hold the console while you're installing? Does the boot just pull up onto this?

The finesse is just holding the shift knob in the right position (so the shift pattern on top isn’t skewed) as you snug up the nut
