Replacing the expansion valve

I did a search and didn't come up with anything specific. I read the service manual and located the expansion valve itself.

Seems that you can access/see/inspect the expansion valve by simply removing the blower motor, but my question is, once the blower motor is removed, can you easily replace the expansion valve at this point? Or do you have to remove the heater core?

Thanks.

I do them that way all the time, and EIFFEL is correct, it is a back breaker. I jack the front end up when I do them to minimize this effect- its really helpfull at my age.

I have done a dozen or so, feel free to PM me if you need any help.
