Just a thought, not a serious one at this point. We recently had a baby and while that is no reason to get rid of an NSX, nor is my wife pushing anything like it, I miss going out for a drive with her in a fun car. I now drive her 2000 Celica GT everywhere (it's an automatic and I'm not allowed to take it over 3kRPM). I'm thinking of what could be had for $25kish that would be fun and have room for a baby seat... an older M3? A new WRX? I dunno, what do you think? I doubt I could ever part with the NSX, but I'm just tossing around options for the fun of it.

i have to say, i am pretty overwhelmed after looking at the TL features. im a techno-geek so i'm loving all the features. the only thing missing that i have in the nsx is dvd video. too bad that whole nav, dvd 5.1 audio thing can't work as a dvd player as well. how much are dealerships getting for these things?

I paid $31,xxx for my '05 TL w/o Nav. I wasn't much of a tech geek, but I did go out and buy a new phone just so I could use the Bluetooth. I love pushing a button and then saying a name and then having the car dial the phone. Pretty cool for a non tech geek like me.

My vote is a Sti. Great bang for your buck. Can be good in all seasons, 4 doors, 300hp, 300lb torque. For ~$25k you can get an 04 with like 10k miles on it.

There are also a lot of older cars that could be had for that price like a BMW or a Benz.

Just depends on how much luxury you want. You can get a BMW with nice leather, really smooth. Or the Sti with no radio stock and probably not as smooth of a ride

thanks for all the ideas.... its a tough call, i like the performance AND the luxury!!! :). i'm heading out to go check out a TL in a few, then perhaps a 330.

Hey Rob I know that some guys on the Acura-TL forum have got some kind of mod they do to get dvd to play on the navi screen you might want to investigate.

First off - the NSX is a very safe car IMO and you have no air bag - so why keep the kids out? I don't and I found several car seats that fit very well in the NSX.

Second - maybe you could keep the NSX and get an automotive lift? That is my solution (well - almost, it is on order).

In any event - if you love the NSX - you will find a way to keep it. If it is just OK in your book - any of the other cars will do just fine. If you love it but do sell it and get one of the other cars - you will regret it. The lifts start around $2k and most people would loose that buying and selling a car with just the taxes involved. PM Anytime if you are interested as he is a BendPak rep (the best lift IMO) and he can get you a sweet "NSX" deal.

Selling the NSX that you really love - now that WOULD be a crime! ;)

thanks nick. unfortunately i have no garage at the moment, nor do i want to move into the realm of paying for insurance on 3 cars. been there, it's a waste of money. i have no problem putting the baby in the nsx, my problem is putting my baby and my wife in it :). it's almost always the three of us that go out, i dont go out on my own often except to drive 2 miles to the bus station to take the bus into boston. parking is too much to bother with driving. so, im driving my wifes boring celica all the time. i know i'd regret it if i got rid of the nsx which is why im so torn. i have to admit, i test drove a TL yesterday and i'm pretty blown away. that's a lot of car for the money and certainly is zippy. the bmw dealership closed as i pulled up.

I enjoy driving my TL more than the NSX, period. The NSX hasn't been out of garage in probably a month or so.
The other poster was right about being able to conver the Nav screen to play DVD's. You have to get a converter for it that cost something like $500.
I haven't done it yet, and don't know if I will or not. This will be the traveling car and it might come in handy though.

Maybe someone can bring me up to speed regarding airbags and car seats. It was my understanding this is a no-no. Both my boys are shaving now, so I guess you could say it's been a while since car seat days.

i looked into the "conversion" DVD thing on the TL forums... it's not really a converted, its more of a video switching solution that you interface a DVD player to (which you need to buy in addition to the switch). thats unfortunate that there is all this great hardware in the car... DVD player, 5.1 audio, 8" screen, but that you cant use anything but the screen if you want DVD video. i'm not certain yet but it appears that you cant even use the 5.1 because there is no 5.1 input you can use to accept audio from the aftermarket DVD player.

as far as airbags, if you cant disable it, my wife says the child needs to be 12 years old. a quick search turned up this site which says the same and has more info:

For a new car, WRX or EVOVIII

Used car G35coupe, or Supra turbo.

I was told by the Acura salesman that even if you rigged it to work for the DVD, the screen didn't have enough pixels to support a decent looking DVD.

you were told wrong on that count. lots of pics in the TL forums on the acuraworld boards. the pics look great. probably not enough pixels for a PC but the DVD looks fine.

Evo mr.

what is an evo mr? some sort of shorthand for evo 8? i havent checked out an evo yet, but i did check out a wrx sti, and while the performance is great, there is nothing nice about the interior at all. feels like i could be sitting inside any old low end car. from what ive read, the evo is supposed to be similar. i think right now the TL is winning hands down because of the nice interior and especially because of the nav/bluetooth and other tech gizmos.

i actually thought about a used supra last night because of the 2+2, but they are still fetching to much $$$ for me.

The latest edition of the mitso Evo 8 is called the mr.It has revised susp and a 6 speed trannie with improved all wheel drive. We have a new TL and I have driven the Evo and if a sporty drive is what you want then it is the mitsu. If you want a well screwed together luxury/near sporty drive then a TL is nice.Imo the TSX is more tossable than the TL but is of course less substantial, you just need to drive these cars.I have heard good things about the Subie leggacy turbo, and the mazda speed 6 .
