I need to transfer a new pilot bearing from one flywheel to another. It seems there is no way to hammer out the bearing w/o punishing the inner race, which in all likelihood will ruin it. Is it possible to remove the pilot bearing from the flywheel without destroying the bearing?

The amount of effort you would need to properly remove it with a hydaulic setup would be prohibitive given the bearing costs about $25. I would remove the old one and install a new one in a heart beat if it was in my budget. If you are into a transmission that deep, you probably have more important things to spend your time on!
