I want to remove them for inspection and cleaning.

Are there any special tricks to the procedure other than following the service manual exactly? There is no entry for this in both FAQs.

!. Be careful not to lose the wire clips that hold the power connection to the injector
2. Cover the hole!! with something.
Paid attenton on how it goes back together

Thanks for that. It's all done.

The electrical connectors on my engine only use plastic hooks molded into the connector body to hold them in place, so it was easy to just squeeze the hooks and the connector slides right out. The o-ring at the tip of the injector can indeed fall into the hole, but fortunately none of mine did.

The more important thing I worry about is the spilled fuel. Is there some spray-on chemical that can neutralize the fuel and maybe have a dye in it to tell me where it spilled? If not cleaned up properly, it can cause an engine fire. I'll let the car sit for a week before I put it back together.

That sounds a hell of lot easier that the early models on the elec. clips. Glad you got it.
The gas should evaporate pretty quick unless it pooled somewhere. I would only be concerned if there could be a leak. You'll see or smell that pretty quick.

The fuel will evaporate overnight, worst case. Your nose will guide you that it has evaporated:).

Thanks for your comments.

I am curious about how the "PIPE, FR./RR. AIR ASSIST DELIVERY" works.

It is items 6 and 9 in the following:

http://www.barancoacuraparts.com/baranco/jsp/prddisplay.jsp?catcgry1=NSX&catcgry2=1999&catcgry3=2DR+NSX+ALEX+ZANARDI+ED&catcgry4=KA6MT&catcgry5=FUEL+INJECTOR+%282%29&ListAll=All&vinsrch=no&prdrefno=&quantity=0&act=&count=0&hidSwitch=&hidIrno=

When putting the injectors back, is there any risk of disturbing that assembly? Or is the air assist not disturbed when removing injectors, hence will not be disturbed when reinstalling injectors?

No risk. That rail delivers air for idle in all 1995+ cars with Throttle by Wire.

Does the NSX have a port to relieve the fuel pressure on the rail? some cars do and it makes the task much easier. It is not pleasant to get a shot of 40psi gas in the eyes.

Hi Alan C.,

Just to be clear, the "rail" mentioned above is an idle "air" rail only, no fuel.

With respect to the fuel rails that feed the injectors, not that I know of, I just remove the return line from the fuel pressure regulator.

HTH,
LarryB

Yes. As per the manual, on top of the fuel filter is a bolt that screws onto the banjo fitting. It's for connecting the fuel pressure gauge when doing diagnostics. You loosen that bolt to relieve fuel pressure.

What he said:). Forgot about that, as I was focused on the fuel rail.

Acura service bulletin 97-010 lists the following fuel pressure gauge:
FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE
0 – 400 kPa (0 – 60 PSI)
T/N 07406-004000A
Is there an after-market type people commonly use that can fit in place of that service bolt on top of the banjo bolt? (NSX service manual page 11-138)

You can purchase a "Honda" adapter for most common fuel pressure gauges at most major autoparts stores. I recall getting the adapter at AutoZone.

LarryB
