When I have the trans refilled, should I switch to Redline tranny fluid or is the Honda OEM fluid fine?
I don't track the can and don't plan on it either. Are there any advantages to the Redline fluid?

Yes there are, but I would say to only use it if you are starting to have minor transmission problems, like your syncros are worn and giving you trouble shifting. If your transmission is shifting fine then, like everyone else has said, stick with the Honda MTF.

My personal experience using Redline is in my daily driver/beater 88 RX-7 Turbo. About 2 years ago I thought I was going to have to look into a rebuild of the transmission because I started having trouble getting the car to shift into second and third whenever the engine was cold.

I put new OEM MTF in it, hoping that that would take care of it, but no diff. Then I tried Redline, and it shifted like new again in all gears. Two years and 30k abusive miles later, still shifts like new.

I think Redline is a great product to try for any manual tranmission with minor synco problems, but again, if you aren't having any transmission problems, I'd stick with the Honda MTF like everyone says.

No problems with tranny at all. It's just that while the car is down for other repairs and new clutch is going in, I figured now is a good time to change if I wanted to. :)

My tech recomended the Honda OEM oil also, I have about 150 miles on the new tranny and it feels perfect, big difference from the original tired tranny.

Comptech recomends redline for modified trannies,ie shorties and r and p changes, fwiw.
