Redid my front brake cooling ducting

Great thread.

I have Stacy vented skirts and its always been on my mind to use the cosmetic vents on them to route air to the rear brakes.

Has anyone done this?

Did you finish this mod? Looks like it would work well. Really interested in how it turned out.

Uh, better late than never?

As good or better than any deflectors I have seen, and can't beat the price.
Left is Porsche part number 993-341-083-00-OEM
Right is Porsche part number 993-341-084-00-OEM
$14/ea at pelican parts

I used a pair of sheet metal snips to cut off the ridge, then just drilled holes in the right places and used the OEM bolts and locations. Works great.

I've used the Dali deflectors for years (no other ducting, just removed the shield) and am happy with them on the track. I use the big ones.

JeffA did a nice DIY writeup that shows how to do front AND rear ducts. With lots of photos. He's an Instructor and has tracked his NSX for years.

As for Porterfield's- my first track day in the Gallardo at VIR (new to me at the time) I had about 80% of the front pads remaining at the start of the day. This amount of pad would've lasted me at least 4 track days in the NSX. Granted the Gallardo is a faster and heavier car, but after six sessions (an admittedly long track day), the Porterfields were GONE. I was metal-to-metal and had to limp home, as I never dreamed that much pad could be toasted in one day. Disclaimer: I don't know what grade of Porterfield pads were on the car, as they were installed by the prior owner. Moral of the story: check your pads every few sessions no matter how much material you start with!!!!

These are a lot like the rotors found in the Mugen active gate brake system for the DC2s... From the people that have had them, they do experience less pedal fade at track days, but that could be mostly due to the larger and wider rotor size than stock used in this system instead being more effective at shedding heat than the reverse mount configuration.

Just found this link from the S2k forums:

Not shilling for SOS, but it seems like with a given size brake rotor the reverse mount does keep them cooler.
