RED TEK A/C Refrigerant Recharge Kit

Did some research long time ago on this thinking I could top off my old Integra I think the stuff was called something else back then. Does it work you ask? Well yes it does I've never personally used Red Tek but not sure how well it would work over time. After finding out what magical substance was in the can, I opted not to bother trying it & shelled out for the 134a conversion.

If I remember correctly HC based refrigerant was pretty much Propane or Propane/Butane mixtures. If it somehow found its way out and ignited it would burn at a high rate of speed, probably not good thing to be putting flammable refrigerant into the system not to mention potential damage to seals etc over time? I've heard of shady used car dealers using stuff similar to get the A/C working while potential buyer is test driving the car thinking the A/C is blowing cold & working correctly. Red Tek claims theirs is safe to use, I say use at your own risk... see http://www.redtek.com/win_12a_refintro.html

Any hydrocarbon based is potentially more explosive. I have seen some motorhome folks running propane claiming better results for cheap. 134 conversion is no big deal. Final system charge level should be a approx 10-15% less than original level for best efficiency. Do it right the first time, enjoy your results. Good luck/
