Hey Fielding..its David in Qld
From what i remember his list of bits done by Honda was extensive..as yuo'd expect I guess for 200Ks ??, the timing belts service probably would be needed again [allow $2K]..but the mechanical history/needs I'll leave to experienced guys here to comment further...but my one resounding memory of his car was how strong it was mechanically for its age/ks...he drove it like a race car redlining gears the engine sounded sweet, ...gearchanges fine and clutch and brakes all felt fine when i took for a spin. [The guy enjoyed the driving exp of an NSX so his priority I feel was always having the car mechanically strong..but was not so concerned on the look of the car]...so paint and interior we spoke about...just need to ask re any accident damage ..some dodgey paint on the front..but door/bonnet/panel fit from memory was OK..and the car looked straight...when I commented on front paint the guy said it was from an earlier stone chip repaint..I'd ask the ? after my research into the other red a/t 91 the ..'little old lady car..'..

Try for a little more off and firm up the deal on your final inspection...road transport it to Sydney ~ $450, I've got details on the guys who shipped mine ..takes less than 48 hours..sounds close Good Luck

David

thx bro,
I spoke about the front of the car n he assured me it was only stone chip repairs.

Like i told you when we has a chat as long as it mechanically fine im happy.
the service history looks fine to me, jst general ware n tare as far as im concerned. but maby some one more experianced can shead some light on this for me.

yeah the parts from honda was quite big about 3k worth of repairs but nothing exessive other than the head leaking, he told me honda x-rayed it for cracks n it came up clean so they replaces the seals n it was fine after that.

I hope to knock a little more off the price ;)

thanks for all ya help ppl, its very much appricated

...RE CF Centre Consoles: … seems the POMS actually beat us at something finally... The first 6 CF Centre Consoles …
OK, I have reported this slur  (or is a fact?) to the NSXCB.co.uk guys, we will see what comes of it…
Cartoon: Hope you get the car. At least it HAS a service history. That’s already a good sign.
I bought one without a service history it turns out to be a very sound car. No problems and now that I’ve had the car for 25,000 kms, I’d do the same again. I love the car. Just get it inspected for crash damage and use common sense when looking at the engine etc. A compression check can tell a mechanic lots of things. Even if the compression is evenly on the low side (high kms), the engine could still be ok. Don’t rely only on the service history. Treat it like any other second hand car and do the other tests on it like hard braking, listening, feeling etc. If you’re not a mechanic yourself, get somebody else to put it on the lift and start pressing and prying and touching things. Then steam-clean the underneath and then drive it. Any oil leaks? Although small oil leaks may not be a problem, a mechanic can give you his opinion. And an (innocent or not) oil leak can be a great bargaining tool for bringing the price down.
Check the nuts and bolts, are they original? Replacement (if they are not the came size as the others) bolts and nuts can (probably, IMO) mean a bodge job.
A more difficult inspection is to look at the crud at the bottom of the oil pan. The owner has probably changed the oil for the sale, but drain the oil, stick a Q-tip in there. Any large metal particles (0.5mm)? But I guess only do this if you suspect something funny.
Then, after that, make an offer based on the results of your inspection. Be truthful with the owner, hopefully he will appreciate that and you can come to a fair price. I couldn’t find the year of your car, but check the “snap ring” problem (manual gearbox). Also (depends on year) immediately order and install the window thingys and door handle thingys (nsxprime).
Anyway, you are going to love this car.

:D You know I always agree with you Mikey, except when it comes to stock '91-93 rims. I'm sorry man, but I can't agree with you on that... they are just too ugly. :D :D :D
About the stock rims, I also hated the stock rims on my car, and planned to change them as soon as possible! Fuglyyyy.
But after driving the car for a while I have been having so much fun, I don’t care anymore. The NSX is a sort of car that you buy for the looks, but you keep because of the way it drives.
But, having said that, I have just returned from our annual road trip, chasing motorcycles in the hills of France, I was fading the brakes. So now it’s time to put the bigger brakes on and that means bigger wheels. But that’s a change based on functionality, not style, so I guess it’s ok…
