I need timing belt, water pump, and harmonic balancer replaced. Springfield Acura dealership wants over 3K. I am willing to travel to use someone I can trust and hopefully save some money. Any recomended
service centers near Springfield Missouri?

WELCEME!!

Brookfield Acura in Milwaukee is good. Its worth the drive.

Can you tell us more about you and the car?

It's a 1991 red/black that was in original condition when I got it about two years ago. It has 15,400 miles and is not in snapring range. I had Brian from Prime repair the CCU last week. He did a great job and fast. Thanks Brian. I have changed the oil twice. I am the third owner and it has never been serviced as far as I know. I just ordered a timing belt shield for the harmonic balancer from Dave a Prime member.

John,

If its truly never been serviced other than oil changes, I would STOP driving it. A broken timing belt is a serious issue.

Why don't you check shipping rates to Milwaukee and back.

When I had all of that work done on mine couple of years ago, they took my 10 year old, 50,000 mile TB off and held it up to a brand new one, and I could HARDLY tell the difference. I would certainly get yours done ASAFP, but I would not freak out and never drive it another minute. But then that is just my opinion.

You really can't tell anything by a physical inspection.

Certainly he can drive the car. You just don't want to be THAT guy that let it go and spent $15k fixing the problems you create with a broken belt.

I have schedule to have Revline Motors in Kansascity replace the water pump/timing belt and do some of the 60K service. I will be having it done April 22nd - April 25th. Revline is about a 4 hour drive from my house and I plan on driving there. I am not too worried about the timing belt breaking on the drive. I believe my car has always been stored inside and has never been driven hard and it only has 15,400 original miles. Until it goes in for service I will not drive it just in case.

If you don't mind me asking, what is Revline charging you for the timing belt/water pump service and is the price they quoted what they typically would charge?

Revline is charging about $2,200.00 to replace the tiiming belt/water pump, and many of the 60K service items. Such as belts, hoses, spark plugs, brake fluid, transmission fluid, valve adjustment, four wheel alinement, Ect. the Acura dealer in Springfield Missouri wanted almost $7,000.00.

The price was not as big of an issue for me as my feeling comfortable with the people doing the service. I have never used Revline Motors before but form speeking with Choug, the manager I feel that he will take good care of my car. For instance, Choug Knew that my cars timing belt cover may not have a weep hole and may need to be up upgraded. The Acura machanic didn't know about this change.

I really cann't say if this price is typical because the poeple who contacted me about Revline did not have the same service done that I am having.

Re: NSX Tech in Tulsa

If you're still open to other options, there's also Frank at Four Star Automotive in Tulsa.

This.

Frank at 4Star works on almost every NSX in the NE Oklahoma area and you're only 161 miles away. The guy has literally saved me thousands of dollars. I wouldn't take my NSX anywhere else locally and that includes the dealership. I'd call them and ask for an estimate of the services stated in your post.

If you have any questions or need any help in the area, just let me them know - I'd be happy to assist.

I have Revline do all of my major service items unless it's the typical maintaince the i do that myself. He recently installed my new exedy clutch, master cylinder, and fixed my main relay. Chong does Excellent work. I'm next in line for my timming belt and water pump. i'll have to schedule it in the future while i'm redoing the interior.

John,

I stopped by today at RevLine to corner balance and align my car and saw the cleanest RED NSX I've ever seen 91' with only 15k miles:eek:

Let me know how your experince was. It looks like I need to do the timing belt/water pump replacement. Just stinks that I don't drive my 2000 very often and it only has slightly over 18,000 miles.

Robert,

I'll be scheduling my timming belt replacement soon. I'm currently gathering all the replacement parts and other parts such as ignition coils, new red valve covers, ect...

Hey, Joseph, did you get any more info on the red '91 you saw in the shop? Maybe we could get the owner to attend some of our gatherings.

Gary,

I think he live 4 hours away so i'll let him know in the future. (JavaJohn you up for this?)

But, currently here is a drive we may want to go on that I received via P.M. from JulieU on prime.

May 16th 10:30 Lee's Summit Honda all day event with Go-Karting at Saddlers. Yes, these actually go fast.

Joseph, were are you getting your parts from? Any great deals out there? I'm looking at getting my timing belt and water pump on the group buy from Prime Member ALLNSXPARTS for $326 dollars. Is that a fair price?

Also, would you recommend getting all the hoses changed? I have been very bad on getting fluids changed other than regular oil changes. So, looks like i will need to flush the radiator, brake fluid...what else i'm I missing?

Anyone have a pocket of money they want to give away.... Need to paint the house, maybe I should just sell the Car:mad:

Zipy - rasir x,

I will try to meet with you sometime this summer. I cann't do it the week of May 16 th because I am already taking a few days off work the last week of May to attend the Branson Z- Fest and I cann't take off both weeks.

The timing belt/water pump, and 60K service on my 1991 NSX is done. I picked up my car 04-25-09 from Revline Motors and drove 200 miles home with no problems.

My car ran perfect when I dropped it off and it still runs perfect. I didn't watch the work being performed so I really can't evaluate the quality of the work. I did clean and inspect my car when I got it home and there wasn't a scratch or mark on it.

Chuong is great to work with. He is knowlegeable, listened to my concerns, kept me informed, and contacted me after I picked up my car to see how things were going.

My experince with Revline Motors and Chuong was excellent. Unless I here negative feedback about Revline in the future I will use them again for service.

Robert,

All NSX parts is a good price and ray lacks Honda/Acura is another.

I just painted my house due to the fact the deck rotted out the sheathing. I just finished one deck out of two and haven't had real time to get anything done I planned such as test I need to take..

About the hoses... The abs hose needs to be replaced along with a few others. It's part of the 60k maintance package.

Java john had his replaced too I watched it myself.

I'm also having rev line install my aem uego and engine management if I ever find one that works with obd2.
