Had a clear bra installed on Friday.

It took Alan 8 hours to complete. Very custom and very well done. The entire hood is just one piece of material!

Now the love bugs won't become permanent fixtures on the paint.....do you guys remember NSXPO 2006 and what those bugs did to the front of cars travelling to the event?

the right spec. to get...

Congratz' on the acquisition, quite the impressive & special offering to say the least! The R8-GT had me perked (along w/ the R8 V10) since release...

I grew up in the '80s & '90s as a keen admirer & enthusiast of Audi's. Had the NSX never existed, the R8 would've more than likely been my begin-all/end-all IT car. Not to mention either/or of the aforementioned would've saved me from ESPRIT induced neurosis! :D

[golf clap]Well done, sir. Well, done, indeed.[/golf clap]

Beautiful car and the right model too. Congrats!

Found your first mod.

I hope that you had true 3M Protection Film installed on your new car and not their secondary brand VentureShield. VentureShield will not hold up in true FL driving. Love Bugs will ruin it. I had supposedly had VentureShield installed on one of my cars and one encounter with love bugs marred the film to a point that it had to be replaced. This was within 4 months of the initial installation. After receiving no help from the installer, I contacted 3M who gave me the low down and then had the film replaced with the 3M brand.
Good luck with you new car. It is beautiful.

Thanks to everyone for their comments :-)

Here's the update.

The R8 GT is now 8 months old. It just turned 5000 miles. I drive it virtually every day rain or shine. The longest stretch I didn't drive....1 week....from April 1 to April 9 when I was in GERMANY visiting the Audi R8 factory, R8 LMS assembly plant (got very special invite for this tour!), Porsche plant, and driving the famous Nurburgring's Nordschleife. My first lap at the 13 mile track....a 7:43 sitting right seat with the famous Sabine Schmidt at the wheel of her GT3RS. Wow!! It was her 31,124th lap and it showed. My time...probably 10 minutes in a BMW 320i with winter tires (and yes, it did snow). I DID avoid a 4 car accident that happened around me! I've posted photos and copy at www.nsxflorida.com/germany.htm.

The fastest I've gone in the R8? 188mph crossing start finish at Daytona. Blemishes....a few. Valet curbed the left front wheel two weeks ago (an otherwise wonderful dinner date with Lynn at Todd English's Blue Zoo in the Walt Disney World Dolphin). Their insurance is paying for a new wheel. Ran over a rake and debris falling off landscape truck....couldn't escape in rush hour....minor chip to carbon fiber front air dam.

As for my NSX, it is now the meanest and fastest it has ever been. New Sparco seats, harnesses, JRZ-RS shocks, Hypercoil springs (700F, 500R) and even more weight reduction. We're down to 2:12 at Sebring (my pro driving coach John Dean at the wheel....currently in first place in the Playboy Cup MX-5 series). Still love driving it every chance I get...although very special now since I only see her at the track :-( She will be at NSXPO!!

Unfortunately the new NSX doesn't do it for me. A hybrid. Hmmm......
Too bad the HSV-V10 was never considered....

How did you prove that the valet curbed the left front wheel? Im so afraid to let valet park my NSX or ISF. I thought it says on your valet ticket, the valet is not responsoble for damage to your car.

That's incredible. I'll be traveling this summer to Germany and driving the Nurburgring. Couldn't arrange for Sabine but just the lowly BMW 'Ring Taxi. Still looking at your pics and enjoying every one of them.

Thanks for sharing.

Regarding the valet incident....

It wasn't intentional. The valet just didn't realize how close he parked the car to the curb and just scuffed the wheel. I'm sure it was low speed (based on the minimal damage).

How did I prove it? I noticed it the next morning in the daylight. I drove it back to the hotel. The curb rash had the brown curb paint of the Dolphin embedded in it. It's very unique and hard to refute. The valet manager was very cool and handled it very professionally. When he saw the marks on the wheel and how they matched up exactly with the height of the curb where car was parked, he agreed it was their fault.

I tried to have the wheel repaired. Unfortunately they could not match the matte finish paint so it didn't match the other three wheels. After a second failed attempt, I got approval to buy a new wheel. Waiting for reimbursement check. Hopefully it will arrive and the case will be closed.

Wei-Shen.
Great write up on your trip to Germany. What a vacation!
Have to add this to my bucket list.
Meanwhile....changing lots of diapers from baby #2.

Hope you see you and Linh soon.
