Does anyone have any recent (3.2L 6-speed) NSX tests in the 0-100-0 acceleration/braking tests?

The latest Road & Track (August 2003) issue had a comparo article "Power Trip" by Patrick Hong. Tested several cars in a number of categories, and the results were very interesting...

Sports Sedans: Audi RS6 v. Benz E55 AMG
Sports Cars: Viper SRT-10 v. P911-TT
GT: Ferrari 575M v. Benz SL55 AMG
Exotics: Saleen S7 v. Lambo Murcielago

Note: only 2 in each category... "slower" cars were not tested -- no Vette C5-Z06, or BMW M5. Surprisingly, no Japanese marques.

They also independently tested a Ferrari Enzo, which was not surprisingly the quickest of the bunch.

I'll get the numbers later, but the results were kinda interesting (note: Enzo not included).

E55 AMG (4 door sedan) was quicker than the SL55 AMG (convertible 2-door/2-pass), partly due to the 130 lb weight differential. "... based on our previous road test, the E55 AMG can almost keep up with the Dodge Viper SRT-10, and for sure can outrun a Corvette Z06 without breaking a sweat ..."

Audi RS6, while last in this field, is quicker than a 911/993 Turbo, F355 and 512TR, Viper RT/10, Vette C5, ZR1 and C4. Not bad for a 4200+ lb AWD slushbox sedan.

Saleen S7 was much quicker than the Murcie, but the latter's significant braking performance won the day.

The sportscars beat the exotics, mainly due to better braking.

My guess would be:
0-100: 12.5 seconds
100-0: in line with the rest.. say 5 seconds

total: 17.5

It would be the slowest of the bunch by a good 2 seconds.

According to August 1998 Car & Driver, the NSX (coupe) does 0-100 mph in 10.6 seconds.

They only list deceleration in distance (100-0 took 341 feet), but NetViper's deceleration estimate is pretty much right: about 5 seconds.

It would be nice if the NSX was included in at least ONE test in ANY magazine in the year 2003. To date, the only one I can think of is the Road and Track test. Since then, nobody even remembered the car was there.

10.6 is a very quick number indeed. I have a car and driver with a silver 97 coupe that did it in 10.5. The NSX-T tests are not near that fast -- at least that I have seen.

It would be a good guess to say the Type R would do it in about 10.2 and brake in 4.6 say 14.8....

there's a website around here somewhere that says the NSX is the 2nd fastest car in a group tested back in 97 or so from 0-100-0...the only faster car was a the viper.

That was the 97 that did 0-100 in 10.5.

FYI: Excerpts from the are August 1998 Car and Driver 0-150-0 article are here. It was a 1998 that they tested and 0-100 was 10.6 seconds. It was in this comparison test that the NSX finished 2nd, behind the Viper.

The May 1997 Motor Trend had a 0-100-0 shootout which included a 1997 NSX-T. It was faster 0-100-0 than the other two Japanese cars (Supra and 3000GT VR-4), but slower than all others (911TT, Viper, F355, and C5):

0-100: 11.8 seconds
100-0: 4.5 seconds
0-100-0: 16.3 seconds

Oops, almost forgot:

The July 1999 Motor Trend did another "Top-Speed Shootout," this time with a 1999 Zanardi Edition NSX:

0-100: 11.1
100-0: 4.4
0-100-0: 15.5

It finished 3rd in 0-100-0 (Viper was first and 550M was second) and posted the best lateral grip (0.99G) and slalom (70.5 mph).

add transition time

The above tests also include a brief "throttle to brake" transition period, which accounts for a lag in measurement as well as human response... during this period, the test car briefly exceeds 100 mph, before the driver drops the anchor.

The slowest car in the test (Audi RS6) did 0-100-0 in about 16 sec -- accelerate + transition + braking.
