RECARO Pole Position @ A.S. Motorsport

hi!
Question - what does the Euro 499 Recaro seat look like?

If you get these I want to sit in them! The narrower FIA version not the American Butts are Enormous version :)

The €499 FIA, Recaro has updated pricing on these as of mid July and now are €599.

Adnan,
Are these the pole position SPG that were discontinued (and no longer FIA approved) or the new replacement version N.G.?

How much are steel rails? How much is shipping to the U.S. for two seats?
These FIA versions are slightly narrower, and in shape more like the JDM NSX-R seat.
The ABE seat is indeed quite wide.

A pair of velours FIA's would run €1198 and shipping both via courier to the USA €395

That sucks about the price increase, 200 euros is even more dollars for the pair :( I would ask if shipping 4 seats costs the same as shipping 2 seats since weight is probably negligible (HDA and I are in the same city so two pairs could ship together theoretically). I am assuming they stack together and aren't shipping separately?

Yeah, sucks ass the e200 increase - I suggest the vendor to update the first post.

Also - I asked for a picture but I got the price?

ALSO: did Recaro fix this "small" issue?

That is why I was asking if it was the revised version of the seat, please confirm.

What is the price for the ABE homologation ?

Q: Can RECARO racing seats with FIA homologation be used in road traffic?

No, RECARO racing seats with FIA homologation do not have a General Type Approval (ABE) and therefore cannot be used in road traffic. However, RECARO offers the racing seat Pole Position ABE, which is licensed for road use.

The ABE version is huge and offered no lateral support. Might as well not be a racing seat unless you're Matt Farah. I would estimate size 36-40 waist accommodation, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

That's a very Germany specific statement.
The price hasn't increased €200 just €100. I'm sorry i wish we Recaro wouldn't have hiked it so much.

We can make a group discount on a shipment, the SoCal guys did it like that, if there are enough pairs we could even look in to a lower price.
This requires 5 pairs though.

I own a pair of Recaro Pole Position ABE seats and wanted to provide some info. I have not installed the ABE seats in my NSX. I have sat in the FIA version in the past, but did not have an FIA version available to make a side by side comparison.

The ABE are the same size as the FIA except the lower portion of the seat on the ABE is up to 20mm wider. You will notice that the widest point of the hip is flared 20mm out compared to the FIA version. Instead of being straight down in depth of the hip walls, it is flared out to 20mm. This is to accommodate the oem seat belt buckle through the hip hole and mitigate it from digging into your hip. With the wider hip flare is then carried out and tapers down the thigh so it flows by design. This also help improve ingress/egress. In conclusion, this makes the ABE's bottom slightly wider than the FIA version. I am a size 31" waist and it is slightly loose for me. I would guess a size 34" would be good fit. I would say the slightly loose fit for me is great for daily for comfort, but not ideal for the track. It is a compromise between street and track. With a 5-point harness, I would be tied down. I would describe the ABE as a street bucket seat that you could use for track days. It is comfortable enough to get in and out of on a daily basis. While the FIA is more track than street and starts to be a PITA to get in and out.

FYI, both the FIA and ABE would use the same side mount seat brackets with a 430mm mounting width.

Wow I just checked these measurements and it looks like the inside to inside of bolster is 430mm or almost 17". That seems really wide to me, but I guess my current race seats are more like 14". It makes sense when you say it's loose on you but I think it would take more like a 36" waist to fill this seat out since I am a 31 also and fit snugly in my current seats. Can there be padding added to the bolsters make these tighter?

A group buy could be good but why are the FIA seats pictured not the jersey red material with suede inserts.. Are these the ABE version pics? Also, it is still unclear if this is the old PP seat or new NG version.

I'm a 36" waist and i consider myself thin (maybe because i'm tall) and the FIA fit snugly around me. Very comfortable. Thanks to Marteen for having let me try his drivers seat :D He is himself quite slender so he's alright in them.
Any larger though and i understand they'd be too tight.

+1, they really do sit quite differently in real life.
