Re: Instant Engine Shutdown Issue

Thanks to each of you for your advice on ignition switch replacement, etc. Without NSXPrime, Acura (a while back) quoted $2,200 to repair the HVAC in our first '94. The second (different car) failed more recently. Instead, it was $150 for Brian K ([email protected]) to repair each of two circuit boards that were easily removed.

While waiting for the new ignition switch, I went to the garage to try car. Cranked beautifully but no fire. Good of it to wait until we were back home. I'll replace the switch, cross my fingers and hope for the best. If not I'll be back.

If it didn't fire while cranking, that does sound more like a main relay, like Larry said. I thought (and I'm no expert and have no experience with this problem) that the ignition switch issue would result in the car firing while cranking but dying as the key is released.

I still imagine you should try to resolder your main relay. If it doesn't work you can try a new one or borrow one to test.
