Completely at random, the car won't start.

I can drive the car every day for a week, will start fine every time. Then, once in a blue moon it won't start. Turn the key, one "click" sound can be heard, fuel pump primes, and no start. Come back the next day, it starts right up like nothing has happened, and continues to work perfectly for a month. In the last year of ownership, it has happened 3 separate times.

12V present at all times - Fuel primes at all times - Main relay has been re-soldered once before - Clutch switch good - Brake switch good -

Any ideas? Car has never broken down or left me stranded, I just don't want to be there when it does :)

Forgot to mention we had cleaned the ign switch already so check that off!

any way to check the starter motor?

None that I know of except the procedure in the service manual. Easier to get a rebuilt Denso from Autozone or Advance then send yours to http://www.rebuildingfactory.com so you have a good spare for the next time.

Sometimes an intermittant starter is caused by the brushes being worn down to the point that they are not always making good contact with the commutator. An old trick is to whack the starter gently, but firmly, with a broomstick or other wooden club. If it works at that point, you know it's the starter and the problem is most likely worn brushes.

i had an intermittent click-no start problem, got a reman'd denso from advance about 2 years ago,it's been fine ever since.it was under $200 and was basically the same thing as the oem denso, which is over $900.

My bushings were worn on my starter. Bought another one after i remove my oem unit and opened it up. The bushings were paper thin

i have seen multiple nsx's do this and i cant seem to pinpoint the problem because the problem is so intermittent. If you turn the key a few more times in a repeated fashon click, click, click, they car will start just keep on clickin.
