Random Orbital buffers..... any suggestions?

You won't be dissappointed. I've used them for years. Are you planning on using Griot's machine polishes and waxes? I highly recommend them (they are formulated to work under the low heat condition the random orbital will give you).

Private me if you have questions...I would be happy to help.

Hi Guys,

Forgive the tardiness, but I just stumbled on this thread.

I plan to get the 7424 from Coastal with the 18002 backing plate (vented) & counterweight. This will be identical to the one Griot's sells. In the Griot's catalog, you see the polisher with the 18001 backing plate. As mentioned in this thread, the 18002 is even more flexible and vented. Having this info, I don't want or need to pay $80 more for a plastic case and dust collector hose. However, I will buy the foam pads that he sells for this machine. Those I am sold on.

I work for PorterCable/Delta as a product line manager. I don't handle polishers (miter saws and some others) but know the tools and am an NSX nut ('94). For what it is worth, I'd do as Vytas has proposed.

As a side note, we've got an internal promotion on some tools ending June 30. I'd be willing to buy/ship a few for my cost if there is interest and they are included in this promotion. (I already own one and only skimmed the flyer).

If this is something you'd be interested in, please post specific model numbers and I'll check on cost / availability when I get to work tomorrow. I would have to know relatively soon, so please post quickly if you are interested.

I ordered a couple of the waxing and polishing pads from Griot's as well as a set of their three grades of polishes. Since I detail a lot of NSXs, as well as other cars, I'd like to have all polishes available should I run across a paint job that needs some serious attention. I also bought the detailers handbook he sells as well.

I would be interested to know how much it will cost for the 7424 with the 18002 vented backing plate and 6 counterweight. Private me please.

Sorry for the false hopes on this, the polishers are not on promotion this time around. We get a 'regular' employee discount on all tools all the time, but you'd do better just by shopping around. I'll post a similar thread if the polisher shows up on the promo list next time.
