Its rained for the last 3 days and I just got my toy. I'm going through withdrawl symptoms. How many of you drive your car in the rain without guilt?

You know how they show cars in commercials carving through a canyon road in the rain to make it look cool. I know I can wash it and all but it seems wrong to drive it today even though I'm dying. So the question is:

Have you and would you drive your car in a light drizzle overcast day?

On the track? No.

To get to or from the track? Yes.

Most other times, that's what my daily driver is for. (Then again, I drive my daily driver most other times even when the weather is nice.)

I drive it in the rain all the time... Never had a single issue.. and I have been in some SERIOUS louisiana down pours...

Don't worry about it and enjoy the car.. just drive responsibly..

Absolutely drive in the rain--it is one of the pleasures of driving a high performance car! Last time I looked the NSX was not made of butter and unlike the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz, it is not going to melt. Use it, just don't abuse it. Plus it gives you a good reason to wash it afterwards; letting you get that much closer to your prize. LOL:p

I've gotten caught in the rain, but wouldnt do it not because I'm pampering the car because other drivers drive like idiots in the rain and dont want to be a part of something like that.

The Acura salesman told me it's not made of sugar. It's a sweet car to drive even in the rain.
Mine has to sit for 6 months with leaves and gravel on it because it got caught in the rain and it snowed before I had a chance to wash it.

If i've just finish washing it, sometimes I find myself driving something else when it rains. Other than that, I have no reason to avoid driving in the rain.

Some guys won't use the nsx as their daily driver and that's fine... it's all about personal preference. Me... I bought the car to be my main driver. I LOVE driving it everyday and I think it's a great feeling to climb into the nsx after a long day at work. Kind of a "reward" for myself:D

Amen. except.....Gingerman in the rain is a blast!
Like last year's Windy City BMW event? ;) In the 120 or so track events I've been to, it's the only one I recall in which it was non-stop downpour from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.

I think it is fine to take it out in the rain, but I choose to let it sleep unless it is dry outside. The general population drives just as fast whether it is raining or not, so to avoid the bodyshop I just leave it home.

I will take it out in the rain if I am going on a long trip with rain in the forecast though; can't pass up those highway miles!:D

Hey, in the Northeast we don't HAVE a NSX event unless it rains.
Fact is, this year, around here, if you didn't drive your NSX in the rain you probably didn't drive it much at all.
I actually like driving in a rain. Don't have to fumble looking for the sunglasses and the car never gets dusty.
This year I even took to washing the car in the rain and, by the way, it is one of the best ways to wash the car.

Question:
What do you call the side vents in the Northeast?
Answer: Gills.:D

I rather drive the NSX in the rain than the MR2 -- much safer because of the TCS system and longer wheel base.

pbassjo, please don't tell me that. I'm in the process of relocating up to DC. Hopefully you're exaggerating about the amount of rain up there. Can't be like Seattle...

Just make sure you have plenty of tread on your tires, and you have no thing to worry about! Now, in my case, if you have 275 rears and camber issues where the inside goes bald quick, be VERY careful. But I wouldn't hesitate to drive it in the rain, responsibly of course!

Never.

Never in the rain, unless I am taken completely unawares. To be honest, I have no idea if my wipers even work. I haven't used them in years.

I only avoid rain if it is already raining when I leave the house. If there is a chance of showers, I dont let that deter me...

Rain brings out the best

And keeps the mediocre away. It's a terrific learning tool if you don't come to grief. And a great equalizer against the high horsepower cars. ;)

At least a couple of us are going to the Infineon track tomorrow. Rain is forecast. This should be the supreme test of self control after running flat out at NSXPO in perfect weather.

Keeping our fingers crossed.

i don't drive the NSX in the rain at all unless I can get caught in a storm..i don't drive it either in the snow...

even on nice days i don't really drive it..I may take it out in the summer maybe once a week...this year i put a total of 1500 Km +- a few km s...

Treads are important in the rain. Get some old or worn out tires and you are asking for it in the rain. I know this from a couple of incidents.

Unfortunately our weather in the NY area has been worse than Seattle this year. We had one stretch where we had some rain on 38 out of 45 consecutive days. I did 8 days at Watkins Glen and had rain on 6 of them. But what the hell, aluminum won't rust...............

I have been caught out in the rain a several of times. I just think of it as an opportunity to get the underside of the car washed. It was raining when I bought the car a year and a half ago and drove it home in the rain.

The worst part is the water spots (black car) but since I have discovered instant detailing sprays and don't have to go through a full wash and wax water spots are no big deal.

Rain- yes and no

When I lived in Vegas, I never drove in rain- it never rained...!
Now that I live in Seattle, I dont drive in rain if it's forecast and I just detailed the car, but thats just because I dont want to deatil again right after finishing- lazy i guess. Otherwise I drive it wet all the time- alot of fun.

Also, I have to represent for Seattle- we get 30 inches a year, not that much, and mostly in winter months. No snow, not too cold, not too hot. Its actually OK sportscar weather except for the winter storms, but even then you get some
nice sunny days in the winter, and then the driving in the NW is spectacular- unbelieveable scenery, twisty turns, etc. We dont get the snow and really cold temps of the NE. I lived in upstate NY once, didnt drive my nice cars for 6 months out of the year, but that was due to salt and gravel on the roads, not the water.

But hey, to each his own. I have lived in just about every climate in the US, and each has it's own + and -. My advice: drive the
freakin' car- thats what you bought it for!

It's partly sunny, 60 today- off for a drive...;)
