Radar Detectors

The V1 is great if you only use it while speeding, but for daily use too many false detections make it a hindrance, to the point where you start to ignore it all of the time. This situation has become worse over the last few years, it really needs some kind of filtering update.

I found if I disable the X band on my V1 I experience very few false alarms. The police here have not used X band for many years, so its totally safe to disable. Likewise about 5 years ago I noticed that K band guns started disappearing too. I cannot recall the last time I went through a K band speed trap. Everything today is either Ka or Laser. Are people seeing otherwise?

BELtronics 995

Picked em up for $79 each on clearance at RadioShack in March (normally $299).

Same internal electronics as the well known Escort 8500 x50.

Replaced the 795 in my RL and the 880 in the NSX....

Comes with this:

And since it is an electronic twin it can be easily upgraded with the add on Escort ZR4 laser jammer system.

Dont waste money on the Escort ZR4. I love my 9500ix, but the ZR4 I have installed is a inferior product to the Laser Interceptor.

I noticed that most all of the CHP on the 405fwy in LA are using LIDAR. I've been commuting from LA to OC for the past 10 years to work, but now within the last 15 months I got hit with 3 speeding tickets all using LIDAR. The 1st was 90mph, 2nd was 85mph, & 3rd was 81mph in my prius!(now I don't drive over 75mph)

In NONE of those tickets did the Escort 8500 X50 sound any alarm from the laser.
My 8500 does work great with K and Ka detection.(cops don't use X band in my area)

The past year I see CHP on the side of the freeway with a LIDAR gun targeting speeders at least once every couple weeks. I drive by with my 8500 on, and it never detects anything. I have read several articles that even if a detector could detect LIDAR, that it would virtually be too late to react before they locked in your speed anyway.

Anyone have better luck with LIDAR using the V1's?

I don't trust any site that sells radar detectors since we know none of them are authorized V1 dealers.

The best site I know of for radar detector testing is "Guys of Lidar" which has no affiliation with any maker or retailer.

Unfortunately they have not updated any tests in three years. The V1 didn't win every test, but won more than any other.

9500IX is what i have... I definitely would recommend it

I have this. I got it from a drug siezed car. It was brand new, even smelled new. I used it a few weeks but its got way more features than I need in my small town. Anyone intrested can hit me up for a good deal. It's just setting in my drawer at work.

if it's LIDAR, when you see it it's too late already anyway.

coming down to Ka bands, i think v1 is still the best (range, everything considered). put it this way, i have known a lot of people who have switched between v1 and other brands. i have seen none that doesn't end up with v1 (unless $$ is an issue).
