Radar detecters' POP performance???

What exactly is POP??? I noticed in the latest Motor Trend detecter review that the Valentine 1 falls short on POP performance compared to the Passport 8500 and BEL. Does it have to do with a radar gun's rate of scan? Like it's ability to scan and return to standby mode so as not to give detecter any benefit of false signal?

MPH Industries, manufacturer of POP-mode radar guns, has info on POP on their site. It's basically a short speed sample... The short duration makes it difficult for detectors to pick up. After you read that, read what Valentine 1 has to say about POP's accuracy. Very interesting.
